What is happening?

BURY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 14(1)

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY

(BRIDGE STREET/LOW STREET, RAMSBOTTOM) TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury intend in not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:

  1. Bridge Street (Low St to Ramsbottom Lane)

  2. Low Street (Bridge St to Paradise St) Ramsbottom

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate underground telecoms works.

The alternative route will be:

  1. Via Bridge Street, Peel Brow, Bury New Road, Manchester Road, Walmsley Road, Peel Way, Crostons Road, Brandlesholme Road, Longsight Road, Bolton Road West & Bolton Street & vice-versa

  2. No alternative route

The proposed Order will come into operation on Monday 24 March 2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 12 months, although the anticipated duration is 2 days (night time works - 21:00hrs to 06:00hrs).

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY

(GIGG LANE, BURY) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bury Metropolitan Borough Council has made the above-named Order under sections 1, 2, 4, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers.

The effect of the Order will be the introduction of No waiting at any time on:

Gigg Lane, Bury – Southerly side, from a point 5 m east of the projected easterly kerbline of Brierley Street to a point 15 m east of the easterly kerbline of Manchester Road.

A copy of the Order (including the exemptions contained in it), which comes into operation on 27 March 2025, and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected at the Town Hall Reception, Knowsley Street, Bury BL9 0SW.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within 6 weeks of 27 March 2025 apply to the High Court for that purpose.

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BURY

(SHORT STREET, RADCLIFFE) TEMPORARY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicles or pedestrians from proceeding along:

Short Street, Radcliffe – full length

The reason for the proposed order is to facilitate works associated with the construction of the Radcliffe Hub.

There is no alternative route as this is a cul-de-sac.

The Order comes into operation on 19/03/2025 and shall remain in force for a period of up to 18 months, although the anticipated duration of the works is approximately 1 week (overnight 23:00-06:00hrs), and subsequent intermittent overnight closures as required by the works.
