TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025 - VARIOUS ROADS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has made the following Order on the 11th March 2025 under its powers contained in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to reproduce and continue indefinitely the provisions of the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council TCF Bradford City Centre Cycling and Walking Improvement Scheme (Moving Traffic) (no.*) Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2023. It prohibits the driving of vehicles other than as set out in the Order on the following lengths of roads:

  1. Road closures on Currer Street, Vicar Lane, West Street, Sharpe Street and Little Horton Lane.
  2. Change of direction of the one-way system on Great Cross Street, Westgate/Kirkgate and Dale Street.
  3. Removal of the existing one-way systems on George Street and Vicar Lane to create two-way travel.
  4. Introduction of one-way systems on Sunbridge Road and Kirkgate.

These restrictions are subject to exemptions including residents permit holders, emergency, service vehicles and Blue Badge Holders where appropriate.

The Order comes into force on the 14th March 2025 and a copy of the Order together with maps showing the affected roads may be examined on the Council’s website at https://www.bradford.gov.uk/transport-and-travel/highways/traffic-regulation-order/ or obtained from Sukhpal Shergill - Traffic & Road Safety South Planning, Transportation & Highways by telephone on 01274435722 or by email Sukhpal.Shergill@bradford.gov.uk quoting reference number PTH/HDC/104971/SS.

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any Instrument made under it, have not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the date upon which the Orders were made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
