Smethwick and Cradley Heath - Temporary Road Closure Orders

What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Shireland Road, Smethwick)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily
prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Shireland Road from its junction with
Waterloo Road to its junction with the southern boundary of No.93 Shireland
Road. Traffic will be diverted via City Road, Sandon Road, Bearwood Road,
Waterloo Road and vice versa, and via City Road, Dudley Road, Cape Hill and
vice versa. The pedestrians and loading only area outside No’s 23-31 Cape Hill will be closed for the duration of the works. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 21/03/2025 effective from 17/03/2025. Purpose – to facilitate a new gas connection to No.32 Cape Hill (working outside No.86 Shireland Road). For more information contact Sam Stephenson of Cadent Gas Ltd – 07977 399420.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Halesowen Road, Cradley Heath)
(Temporary One-Way Road Closure & Left Turn Ban) Order 2025 has
made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along
Halesowen Road, which will be closed in a southerly direction from south of
its junction with Cox’s Lane to north of its junction with Ashtree Road. A left turn ban will also be in place at the junction of Cox’s Lane for the duration of the Halesowen Road closure (14/03/2025 - 16/03/2025). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Halesowen Road one-way closure via Saltwells Road, Cradley Road, Newtown Lane, Upper High Street & Reddal Hill Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 16/03/2025 effective from 14/03/2025 (24hrs).
