HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN HATFIELD, CUFFLEY AND WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
that length of Fore Street, Hatfield from its junction with The Broadway south eastwards for a distance of approximately 131m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Farm Close, Cuffley from its junction with Hill Rise south eastwards and north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Handside Lane, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Youngs Rise south westwards to its junction with Lemsford Lane for a distance of approximately 1022m.
An alternative route will be via Youngs Rise, B195 Valley Road and Lemsford Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROBBERY BOTTOM LANE, OAKLANDS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Robbery Bottom Lane, Oaklands from a point in line with the western boundary of No.43 Robbery Bottom Lane north eastwards and south eastwards to a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.53 Robbery Bottom Lane, a distance of approximately 52m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Robbery Bottom Lane, Lower Mardley Hill, B197 Mardley Hill, Mardleybury Road, White Horse Lane and Robbery Bottom Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 31 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NEWGATE STREET VILLAGE, NEWGATE VILLAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Newgate Street Village, Newgate Village from its junction with Tylers Causeway southwards, south westwards and south eastwards to a point in line with the southern boundary of No.17 Newgate Street Village, a distance of approximately 920m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Newgate Street Village, Newgate Street, Darnicle Hill, Hammondstreet Road, Dig Dag Hill, Longfield Lane, Flamstead End Road, B156 (Brookfield Lane West/Halfhide Lane), A1170 (Great Cambridge Road/High Road), Bells Lane, Baas Hill, White Stubbs Lane, C54 (unnamed road) and Newgate Street Village.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 1 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN WILKINS GREEN LANE, SMALLFORD/HATFIELD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Wilkins Green Lane, Smallford/Hatfield from its junction with A1057 Hatfield Road south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Ellenbrook Lane, a distance of approximately 1056m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via A1057 (Hatfield Road/St Albans Road West) and Ellenbrook Lane.
ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 17 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN DIGSWELL AND CUFFLEY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:
That length of Station Road, Digswell from its junction with Hertford Road north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Harmer Green Lane, a distance of approximately 452m.
- An alternative route will be via Hertford Road and Harmer Green Lane.
That length of Hertford Road, Digswell from its junction with the A1000 Bessemer Road/A1000 Hertford Road roundabout south eastwards to its junction with Harmer Green Lane, a distance of approximately 728m.
- An alternative route will be via A1000 (Bessemer Road/Mundells), B1000 Waterside and Hertford Road.
- That length of Well Road, Cuffley from its junction with B157 The Ridgeway south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junctions with B156 Judges Hill, a distance of approximately 1086m.
- An alternative route will be via B157 The Ridgeway, Vineyards Road and B156 Judges Hill.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 17 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF DRIVERS END, CODICOTE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Drivers End, Codicote from a point 14m south west of its junction with Codicote Public Footpath No.012 north eastwards for a distance of approximately 130m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Drivers End, B656 (Hitchin Road/High Street), Bury Lane, Nup End and Drivers End.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 13 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON HERNS LANE, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on that length of Herns Lane, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with B1000 Hertford Road south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 490m (“the Road”), when signs are in place.
The Order is needed because the construction of a new access is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 14 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting restrictions and speed limit restrictions in parts of Codicote as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Monday 31 March 2025.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders may be viewed from 12 March 2025 to 23 April 2025 during office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting North Herts and looking at Ref: NH01224.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders, or any of their provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any Instrument made under it has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of this Notice, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE 2:
20 mph zone – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of High Street, Tower Road, St Giles Road, Bentinck Way, Gomer Close, The Chestnuts, The Elms, Old School Close, Bury Lane, Valley Road, The Ridgeway, Grange Rise, The Close, The Paddocks, Heath Lane, Mayflower Close, The Green, St Albans Road, Dark Lane, Tithe Close, Cowards Lane, Poynders Meadow, The Riddy, Valley Road South, New Town, Porters Mews, Hillside, Hill Road, Meadow Way, Baker’s Lane, Farriers Close and The Birches.
SCHEDULE 3:
30 mph speed limit – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of High Street and Heath Lane.
SCHEDULE 4:
40 mph speed limit – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and scheme plans – Parts of St Albans Road and Bury Lane.
