(Electric Scooter Trial) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, The Electric Scooter Trials and Traffic Signs (Coronavirus) Regulations and General Directions 2020, and pursuant to the Order made by the Department for Transport, under s44 and s63(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1988, have made an order the effect of which will enable electric scooters (as defined in The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016) being used in a trial, to use any road or length of road in South Gloucestershire which is currently used by pedal cycles. 

This applies only to electric scooters hired from a company authorised and in accordance with the regulations made by the Department for Transport. 

South Gloucestershire Council is satisfied that electric scooters being used in the trial in the said roads should be permitted in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public to facilitate the further extension of the Department for Transport electric scooter trial; (1) to reduce ambiguity as to where the aforementioned electric scooters can be ridden, and (2) to allow the aforementioned electric scooters to be ridden in suitable areas of the highway. The order became operative from 17 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months.


(Down Road, Westerleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Down Road which extends from Bury Hill eastwards for 100m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pole replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 17 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm.

Alternative route: Down Road, Dragon Road, B4058 High Street, B4058 Bristol Road, Church Road, A432 Badminton Road and vice versa.


(Manor Road, Wick) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Manor Road which extends from A420 High Street to Barrow Hill. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. 

The order became operative from 17 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm.

Alternative route: A420 High Street, Oldbury Lane, Barrow Hill and vice versa.


(Claypit Hill, Chipping Sodbury; Gibbs Lane, Dodington and Sodbury Lane, Codrington) (Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour in the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the ongoing closure of the A432 M4 overbridge resulting in traffic diverting through the Sodbury and Dodington area causing potential road safety issues and danger to road users and residents. 

The order became operative from 19 March 2025 for a period of at least 18 months. 

The restriction however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position. 

Schedule: Claypit Hill – the entire length; Gibbs Lane – from Claypit Hill to Sodbury Lane; Sodbury Lane – the entire length.


(Various Roads, Various Wards – Street Cleansing Programme) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with street cleaning works. The order will be operative from 8 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, in respect of each location.

(Shellards Road, Longwell Green) (Temporary Prohibition Of Use By Vehicles, Pedal Cycles And Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Shellards Road which extends from Watsons Road northwards for 25m and southwards for 25m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon gas main upgrade works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 7 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. 

Alternative route: Woodward Drive, Marsham Way, Bath Road and vice versa.


(Public Footpaths LWR/36/10; LWR/36/20 and LWR/37/10, Wickwar) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers the lengths of footpath specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon construction works. 

The order will be operative from 7 April 2025 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. 

Schedule: 1. Footpath LWR/36/10 – the entire length; 

2. Footpath LWR/36/20 – the entire length; 

3. Footpath LWR/37/10 – that length which extends from B4058 Bristol Road south eastwards for 100m. Alternative routes: 1. & 2. LWR/37/10, LWR/38/30, LWR/39/60 and vice versa; 3. N/A – access to be provided alongside existent.


(A38 Gloucester Road, Severn Vale and Thornbury Ward) (Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- 

a) prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour in the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and 

b) suspend, temporarily, the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, Almondsbury and Over Area) (Restricted Roads) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1999 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice, for the duration of this order; and 

c) suspend, temporarily, the South Gloucestershire Council (A38 Gloucester Road – Almondsbury to Alveston, Hortham Lane and Woodlands Lane) (40mph Speed Limit) (Restricted Roads) Order 2004 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 3 to this notice, for the duration of this order. 

This order is required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon CRSTS works. 

The order will be operative from 7 April 2025 for a period of at least 18 months. The restriction however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position. 

SCHEDULE 1 A38 Gloucester Road – that length which extends from Grovesend Road to M5 Junction 16;

SCHEDULE 2 A38 Gloucester Road – that length which extends from M5 Junction 16 to a point 274.32m north east of Florence Park; 

SCHEDULE 3 A38 Gloucester Road – that length which extends from a point 274.32m north east of Florence Park to a point 139m north east of Thornbury Road.


(Luckington Road, Acton Turville) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Luckington Road which extends from Chapel Lane north eastwards for 600m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. 

The order will be operative from 7 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. 

Alternative route: B4040 Malmesbury Road, A46 Tetbury Road, A433 Church Street, B4014 Fox Hill, B4014 Filands, A429 Crudwell Road, B4040 Holloway, B4040 Bristol Street, B4040 Church Street, B4040 Sherston Road and vice versa.


(Over Lane, Almondsbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Over Lane which extends from Sundays Hill to Knole Park. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with overhead cabling works. 

The order will be operative from 10 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm.
