What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

Ash Hayes Road, Station Road, Nailsea, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 14 April 2025 – Ref: T24-237

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads and the durations specified in the Schedules to this Notice.

This order is required in the interests of public safety and to facilitate the installation of highway works in the carriageway and will become operative on 14 April 2025, anticipated to be of 3 weeks in duration.

The maximum period for the closures is 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule

  • Ash Hayes Road is anticipated to be closed from 14 April 2025 to 29 April 2025. This is a 24-hour closure to facilitate safe construction of zebra works.
  • Station Road, Nailsea is anticipated to be closed on the 28 and 29 April 2025 between 9.30am and 3.30pm closure to facilitate high friction surfacing and zebra road markings.

Roads within the Schedule of Works

  • Ash Hayes Road from junction with Station Road in a westerly direction for 14m.
  • Station Road, Nailsea from 28m north of Ash Hayes Road to 11m north of said junction.

Alternative routes

  • Queens Road, Mizzymead Road, Stock Way South, Stock Way North, High Street B3130, Nailsea Park and vice-versa.

Appropriate traffic signs, cones, road safety barriers and traffic diversion route signage will be displayed when the measures are in force.

FINAL NOTICE OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, have made an order the effect of which:

Greenfield Crescent and Milton Close, Nailsea, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 17 March 2025 – Ref: T25-012

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the schedule to this notice.

This order was required because of highway drainage maintenance works and will become operative on 17 March 2025, and is anticipated to be of 5 working days. The maximum period for the closures is 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule

  • Greenfield Crescent entire extents.
  • Milton Close entire extents.

Alternative routes

  • Greenfield Crescent: Southfield Road, Cleveland Road and vice-versa.
  • Milton Close: Greenfield Crescent, Southfield Road, Cleveland Road and vice-versa.

Dundry Lane, Winford, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 17 March 2025 – Ref: T25-05

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the schedule to this Notice.

This order was required because of highway drainage maintenance works and will become operative on 17 March 2025, anticipated to be of 5 days. The working hours will be 8am to 5pm. The maximum period for the closures is 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule

  • Dundry Lane, Winford entire extents.

Alternative routes

  • Winford Lane, Crabtree Lane, Church Road, Dundry Lane, Bridgwater Road, Barrow Lane, High Street and vice-versa.

Wemberham Lane, Yatton North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 24 March 2025 – Ref: T24-63

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This order was required because of carriageway patching and will become operative on 24 March 2025, anticipated to be of 3 days in duration between 8am and 5pm. The maximum period for the closures is 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule

  • Wemberham Lane from the property boundary of 131 Wemberham Lane to the end of the carriageway (westerly direction).

Alternative routes

  • Wemberham Lane no alternative route.

Chelvey Road, Chelvey, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 24 March 2025 – Ref: SW24/25-250

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for pedestrians who may only be accessed at the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wessex Water to upgrade sewer. This order will become operative on the 24 March 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 24 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 26 March 2025 – Ref: SW24/25-270

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by National Grid for overhead reconductoring. This order will become operative on the 26 March 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be 9 hours in duration between 8am and 4.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 27 March 2025 – Ref: SW24/25-279

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to replace a pole. This order will become operative on the 27 March 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be 1 day in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 27 March 2025 – Ref: SW24/25-280

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to replace a pole. This order will become operative on the 27 March 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be 1 day in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming into force: 26 March 2025 – Ref: SW24/25-287

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to install overhead cable. This order will become operative on the 26 March 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Speed Limit Restrictions, North Somerset

Consolidation Order 2024 (Variation No.3) Order 2025 – Ref: SLTR/D/8501

Notice is hereby given that on the 6 March 2025, North Somerset Council made the following order in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the general effect of the Order is to amend the North Somerset Council (Speed Limit Restrictions) Consolidation Order 2024 to revoke the existing 40mph speed limit on Queen Road, Nailsea, and create a 30mph Speed Limit on Queen Road instead.

The order will come into operation on the 17 March 2025 and copies of the order may be inspected by appointment at:

North Somerset Council, Castlewood, Tickenham Road, Clevedon BS21 6FW.

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
