What is happening?
NOTICE OF VARIATION OF PARKING CHARGES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council under sections 35C and 46A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, intends to vary the On-Street and Off-Street parking charges listed in the Schedules to this Notice.
The new permit and parking charges will come into effect from Tuesday, 8 April 2025.
All other provisions of the current off-street and on-street parking Orders, as amended, relating to classes of vehicles, days of operations, hours of operation, terms and conditions of use and maximum waiting periods remain unchanged.

Dependent on the time permitted for a vehicle to stay within each parking location, a variation of the below will be charged:

PROVISION OF PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONES OUTSIDE SCHOOLS NOTICE OF PROPOSALS
Medway Council (School Streets) (Pedestrian and Cycle Zones) (No. *) Traffic Order 2025
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
- The general effect of the Order would be to introduce a new ‘pedestrian and cycle zone’ in the vicinity of each of the schools listed in the Schedule to this Notice, operating at the times and comprising the streets or parts of streets listed in that Schedule.
- All motor vehicles except permit holders would be prohibited from entering the pedestrian and cycle zones during their hours of operation. Virtual permits allowing vehicles to enter a pedestrian and cycle zone would be available to residents and those caring for residents, of premises located within or only accessible from the pedestrian and cycle zones, by application to the Council. Local buses would be exempt from the restriction. Further exemptions would apply to vehicles of those dropping off or picking up students with special educational needs or who are disabled (the details of such vehicles being registered with the school) and to emergency service vehicles, school buses and certain other service vehicles and utility vehicles (in an emergency only) and also to school staff requiring access to parking facilities within school grounds. Any vehicle that is already within the pedestrian and cycle zone prior to its commencement of operation would be permitted to leave.
- Copies of the proposed Order, plans and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be inspected at the front reception, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, except for bank and public holidays. Electronic copies of the documents can be requested by sending an email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk on the understanding that requests may take up to 5 working days to be completed.
- Any objections or other representations to the proposed Order should be sent in writing by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk or by post to “Parking Design team” at the address specified in paragraph 4 above, by Friday, 4 April 2025 to be considered, stating name, address and grounds for objection or support.

(2) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8am and 9am and 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Horsted Primary School, Chatham comprising of the following roads in Chatham: BARBERRY AVENUE, (between Watson Avenue and Crescent Way) and BINLAND GROVE. (3) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8am and 9am and 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Crest Infant School and Delce Academy, Rochester, comprising of the following roads in Rochester: THE TIDEWAY, (between Hawser Road and Barnaby Terrace); HAVEN CLOSE, WINDWARD ROAD, LEEARD ROAD AND CREST ROAD.
VARIOUS AREAS (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO.14) ORDER 2025
NOTICE OF PROPOSAL
Charles Drive, Cuxton
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2, 4 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The general effect of the Amendment Order will be to introduce lengths of No Waiting (single and double yellow lines) in the outlying areas of Medway, with the addition below to proposals advertised on 6 February 2025:
1) Charles Drive, Cuxton – South and south-east sides, an approximate 114-metre length of double yellow lines from the boundary of Nos.127/129 Charles Drive westwards to the bus stop at the side of No.124 Bush Road.
Any objections or other representations about the proposed Order should be sent in writing by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk or by post to “Parking Design team” at the address specified in the paragraph below by Friday, 4 April 2025 stating name, address and grounds for objection or support.
Copies of the Order, plans and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals can be inspected at Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive except for Bank and public holidays.
