SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL

NOBLE GARDENS (FOOTPATHS), SOUTH SHIELDS
TEMPORARY FOOTPATH / FOOTWAY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order
under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of
which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following footpath /
footway:- Noble Gdns, Sth Shields, from its junction with Dame Flora Robson Ave
to its junction with Bainbridge Ave, for its entire length, between 24/03/25 -
24/04/25. Sth Shields Footpath 1180, Sth Shields, from its junction with Stoker
Ave to its junction with Edhill Ave, for its entire length, between 14/04/25 -
14/05/25. Sth Shields Footpath 1178, Sth Shields, from its junction with Dame
Flora Robson Ave to its junction with Sth Shields Footpath 1177 (Linney Gdns), for
its entire length, between 22/04/25 - 13/05/25. The Order is required because
works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in
particular to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out gas replacement works.
The Order will come into force on the 20/3/25. The maximum duration of the
prohibition under this Order will be 6 mths however it is anticipated that the
prohibition will only be needed from 24/3/25 for 45 days. All pedestrians except
those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the footpath / footway described
above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times
and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic
signs. During the prohibition, the alternative routes will be indicated via signage.
