What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ALL SAINTS GREEN AND SURREY STREET

  1. All Saints Green from its junction with Surrey Street for 63m northwards
  2. Surrey Street from 13m northwest of its junction with All Saints Green for 40m south-eastwards

To facilitate Norfolk County Council footway reconstruction works. These roads (1 and 2) will be temporarily closed and traffic over the road shall be temporarily prohibited to bag, stop, and unload from 17th to 31st March 2025 with only signs indicating closures in place (may continue until the 12th May 2025).

Alternative route via:

  • Northbound: Surrey Street, Queens Road, Bear Street, and All Saints Street.
  • Southbound: Westlegate, St Stephens Street, Queens Road, and All Saints Green.

NB: Please note that road 1) parking restriction is anticipated to be in place from 17th to 21st March 2025 and the road closures over road 1)-2) are anticipated to be in place between 19:00 and 07:00 from 30th to 31st March 2025.

HELLESDON MILL LANE

From its junction with Hellesdon Hall Road for 136m westwards in the City of Norwich to facilitate CityFibre installation works from 17th to 28th March 2025 (may continue until 9th May 2025).

Alternative route is via: Hellesdon Road.

THE AVENUES

From its junction with College Road to its junction with Swansea Road to facilitate Norfolk County Council removal of temporary structure works between 08:00 and 17:00 on 15th March 2025 with only signs indicating closures in place (may continue until the 3rd May 2025).

Alternative route is via: The Avenues, Colman Road, Unthank Road, Park Lane.

UPTON ROAD

From its junction with Waldeck Road for 20m southwards to facilitate Anglian Water new connection works from 16th to 31st March 2025 (may continue until the 2nd May 2025).

Alternative route is via: Unthank Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, Upton Road.

WHITE LION STREET

  1. White Lion Street from 20m north of its junction with Red Lion Street for 20m northwards
  2. White Lion Street from 40m north of its junction with Red Lion Street to its junction with Haymarket

To facilitate repair works. Road 1) will be temporarily closed and Road 2) shall be restricted to one-way traffic in the westerly (ahead) direction to allow vehicles to exit from Haymarket in a westerly and easterly direction from 17th March to 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 12th May 2025).

Alternative route is via: Red Lion Street, Farmers Avenue, Brigg Street, and Haymarket.

YORK ALLEY

York Alley from its junction with Red Lion Street to its junction with White Lion Street to facilitate sewer repair works from 17th March to 2nd April 2025 (may continue until 14th May 2025).

Alternative route is via: Red Lion Street and White Lion Street.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

GOLDSMITH STREET

From 1m north of its junction with Dereham Road for 5m northwards to facilitate manhole repair works between 19:00 and 06:00 from 10th to 11th March 2025 (may continue until 22nd April 2025).

Alternative route is via: Goldsmith Street, Browne Street, Old Palace Road, Browne Street.

MILE CROSS ROAD & DRAYTON ROAD

  1. Mile Cross Road from its junction with Mile Cross Road/Drayton Road Roundabout to its junction with Valpy Avenue
  2. Drayton Road from its junction with Mile Cross Road/Drayton Road Roundabout to its junction with Schomberg Avenue
  3. Mile Cross Road/Drayton Road Roundabout

To facilitate Norfolk County Council carriageway resurfacing works between 07:00 and 23:50 on either 8th, 15th, or 22nd March 2025 with only signs indicating closures in place (may continue until the 3rd May 2025).

Alternative route is via: Mile Cross Road, Dereham Road, A1067, Old Palace Road, A140, Drayton Road, Aylsham Road.

NB: Please note that the date of the closures is dependent on weather and will occur on one of the three anticipated dates only.

WOODHALL RISE FOOTPATH

Woodhill Rise Footpath South of 65 and 67 Knowland Grove from its junction with Woodhill Rise to its junction with Knowland Grove to facilitate BT telecommunication works from 10th to 14th March 2025 (may continue until 25th April 2025).

Alternative route is via: Knowland Grove, Woodhill Rise Footpath South off 75 and 79 to Knowland Grove, Woodhill Rise.

NB: Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed or postponed, signs will be displayed in advance. Where exceptional circumstances exist, the roads may reopen earlier.

Anticipated dates are subject to orders continuing until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders may continue until the date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or an actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the order may remain a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
