What is happening?

CITY OF BRISTOL
(VARIOUS ROADS, CITYWIDE, BRISTOL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES)
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF RESERVED BUS LANE)
(TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF WEIGHT LIMIT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:-

1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;

2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing reserved bus lane working in a north westerly direction in Parson Street, so as to allow access and egress for works vehicles; and

3. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered:-
(a) the prohibition of vehicles over 5 tonnes maximum gross weight limit in operation in lengths of High Street, Lower High Street, Park Hill and Shirehampton Road, and
(b) the prohibition of vehicles over 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight limit in operation in Bishopsworth Road –
 so as to give effect to the alternative routes as a consequence of item 1. above.

The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the roads and will be operative from 23rd March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the restrictions may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which will occur in nine phases that are anticipated to be of between 2 and 10 days duration for each phase).

Phase 1: Broadlands Drive – from Kings Weston Lane north eastwards for 10 metres
Kings Weston– (a) from Campbell Farm Drive to Long Cross
Lane (b) from Long Cross to Tide Grove
Long Cross – from the common boundary line of No. 124-126 and No. 128-130 Long Cross to the common boundary line of No. 116 and No. 118 Long Cross (including the roundabout)
Tide Grove – from Kings Weston Lane north eastwards for 10 metres

Phase 2: Constitution Hill – from Bellevue to Jacobs Wells Road
Phase 3: Cumberland 
Basin Road – from its easternmost junction with Merchants Road to Bennett Way
Hotwell Road – from its south easternmost junction with Merchants Road north eastwards for 39 metres
Merchants Road – (a) from its north westernmost junction with Hotwell Road to Brunel Lock Road/McAdam Way
(b) from its westernmost junction with Cumberland Basin Road north eastwards for 33 metres

Phase 4: Downs Cote View – from Falcondale Road south westwards for 10 metres
Downs Road – from Falcondale Road south westwards for 10 metres
Falcondale Road – from its north westernmost junction with Downs Cote Park to its junctions with Westbury Road
Westbury Road – from the common boundary line of No. 129 and No. 131 Westbury Road southwards, then south eastwards for 170 metres

Phase 5: Bedminster Road – from its southernmost junction with Parson Street to its junctions with Bedminster Down Road
Parson Street – (a) south westbound carriageway: from Mansfield Street to its junctions with Bedminster Road
(b) north westbound carriageway: from Bedminster Road north westwards for 28 metres

Phase 6: Bridgwater Road – from the common boundary line of No. 79 and No. 81 Bridgwater Road to the common boundary line of No. 93 and No. 95 Bridgwater Road (including the roundabout)
Kings Head Lane – from Bridgwater Road southwards for 11 metres

Phase 7: Fifth Way – from a point 74 metres south east of Avonmouth Way to its closed end

Phase 8: Manor Road – from Blackberry Hill to Napoleon Avenue

Phase 9: Stoke Lane – from Stoke Gate north westwards for 167 metres

(UNNAMED FOOTPATH BETWEEN BISHPORT AVENUE AND NEWLAND ROAD, HARTCLIFFE, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY FOOT PASSENGERS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians that length of Unnamed Footpath between Bishport Avenue and Newland Road which extends from Bishport Avenue to Newland Road.

The Order is required because works are being or proposed to be executed on or near the footpath and will be operative from 7th April 2025 for a maximum period of six months. However, the closure may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only as necessitated by the works (which are anticipated to take place between 7th April 2025 and 3rd October 2025).

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Bishport Avenue, Newland Drive, Newland Road and vice versa
