(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Town Lane, Whittle-le-Woods from the western boundary of property named Brantwood for a distance of 55m in a north-westerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 3rd March 2025 until 1700 hours on Wednesday 5th March 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will not be maintained owing to the nature of the works and the restricted width of the carriageway making vehicle passage not possible. Cyclists will be required to dismount to pass through the pedestrian walkway on site or follow the diversion route.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained by means of a pedestrian walkway.
5. An alternative route for vehicular and cycle traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Town Lane, Whittle-le-Woods – Blackburn Road, Black Lion Farm – A674 Blackburn New Road, Whittle-le-Woods – A674 Blackburn Road, Whittle-le-Woods – A674 Millenium Way, Whittle-le-Woods – Moss Lane, Whittle-le-Woods – A6 Preston Road, Whittle-le-Woods – Shaw Brow, Whittle-le-Woods – Waterhouse Green, Whittle-le-Woods – Town Lane, Whittle-le-Woods and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow new water connection installation works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
