What is happening?

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Albert Road (D2003) Epsom. Alternative Route: Church Road, College Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works will be carried out in 3 phases and are anticipated to be carried out over 26 days, between the hours of 8am and 4pm, within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 31 March 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
The Rise (D2356) and The Mount (D2299) Ewell
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of:
(a) The Rise (D2356) Ewell as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between property No.25 and No.27 to a point in line with the common boundary between No.29 and No.31. Alternative Route: The Rise, West Street, West Gardens, The Kingsway, and The Rise, or this route in reverse;
(b) The Mount (D2299) Ewell as extends from a point in line with the common boundary between property No.11 and No.13 to a point in line with the common boundary between No.15 and No.17. Alternative Route:
(1) The Mount, West Street, West Gardens, The Kingsway, and The Mount;
(2) The Mount, The Kingsway, The Rise, West Street, and The Mount.
This Order is required to facilitate gas mains replacement works for, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 19 days, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, within the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 31 March 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. B290 Tattenham Corner Road, Epsom and B290 Epsom Lane North, Epsom Downs
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the length of B290 Tattenham Corner Road, Epsom and B290 Epsom Lane North, Epsom Downs, as extends from the junction with Tattenham Crescent to the junction with Kingswood Road. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate pre-patching and footway slurry works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18-month period of operation of this Order, which will commence on 21 March 2025.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.
Alternative Route – B290 Epsom Lane North, B290 Ashurst Road, B290 Cross Road, B290 Station Approach, B2220 Tadworth Street, A217 Brighton Road, A240 Reigate Road, and B2221 Great Tattenhams.

Public Footpath 624 (Banstead)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 13 March 2025, Surrey County Council will make the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 624 (Banstead) from Grid reference: 522903 156821, heading north for approximately 250 metres to Grid reference: 522826 157035.
The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 17 March 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on-site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route for traffic from point A will be to:
- Head North East on Preston Lane for 210 metres to Waterfield.
- Then head North West on Waterfield for 140 metres.
- Then head West on Waterfield for 70 metres to Public Footpath 69 (Banstead) and point B.
The alternative route for traffic from point B will be the reverse of the route described above.
“The Public Footpath 624 (Banstead) Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025” will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
