What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH (OFF STREET PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2021 AMENDMENT ORDER No 4 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough propose to make the following Order under Sections 1, 2, 3, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51 and 53 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The proposed Order will amend the Articles and Schedules of The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (Off Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2021 (as amended) as listed in the Schedule hereto. Exemptions will apply to any vehicle to be used for emergency purposes by the fire brigade, ambulance or police. Full details and descriptions are contained in the draft order which, together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the order may be examined at www. middlesbrough.gov.uk and at Newport Community Hub, St Pauls Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 5NQ. If you wish to object to the proposals above you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to Legal Services, Middlesbrough Council, P O Box 503, Middlesbrough, TS1 9FX by 31st March 2025. SCHEDULE
The following amendments are made to Article 2: The following words are removed from Article 2 Charging hours: 2 (b) “with the exception of the Parkway Centre Car Parks as listed in Part I(5) of the Schedule hereto” and “(e) In respect of the Parkway Centre Car Parks designated disabled bays as listed in Part I(5) of the Schedule hereto at any time. “The following amendments are made to the Schedule: The following items are removed from Part I Short Stay Parking Places: item 1 Buxton Street Car Park - An area of land bounded by Wilson Street, Gurney Street, the northern boundary fence of the Sutton Housing Trust Development and Albert Mews - Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm and item 5 Parkway Centre Car Parks - Designated disabled bays in the north east corner of the Green Car Park and the north west corner of the Blue Car Park - At Any Time: Disabled Badge Holders Only. The following item is added to Part II Long Stay Parking Places: item 17 Buxton Street Car Park - An area of land bounded by Wilson Street, Gurney Street, the northern boundary fence of the Sutton Housing Trust Development and Albert Mews - Monday to Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm. The following tariff structure will be introduced for the following items in Part I Short Stay Parking Places: item 4 Mima Car Park - An area of land bounded by Grange Road, the Central Library, Mima and Central Gardens - Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm - £1.90 for up to 1 hour, £3.70 for up to 2 hours, £5.50 for up to 3 hours, £7.30 for up to 4 hours, £9.10 for up to 5 hours, £10.90 for up to 6 hours, £12.70 for up to 7 hours and a maximum of £14.50 for over 7 and up to 10 hours, Sunday 8.00am to 6.00pm: £2.10 for all day and item 6 Amber Street Car Park - an area bounded on the west side by Amber Street, on the north side by the alleyway behind The Crown, on the east side by the alleyway behind 143 to 167 Linthorpe Road and on the south side by Garnet Street and an area bounded on the east side by Amber Street, on the north side by the alleyway behind 45 to 49 Borough Road, on the west side by the alleyway behind 3 to 41 Ruby Street and on the south side by the rear of 10 to 12 Garnet Street - Monday to Saturday 8.00am to 6.00pm: £1.90 for up to 1 hour, £3.70 for up to 2 hours, £5.50 for up to 3 hours, £7.30 for up to 4 hours, £9.10 for up to 5 hours, £10.90 for up to 6 hours, £12.70 for up to 7 hours and a maximum of £14.50 for over 7 and up to 10 hours, Sunday: No charge.
