Essex – Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Clearway Restrictions

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Clifford Smith Drive, Felsted) (Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily introduce a 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' on that length of Clifford Smith Drive, Felsted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Braintree Road to its junction with Porter Close a distance of approximately 100m.

2. "The Essex County Council (Uttlesford Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The clearway is scheduled to commence on 1st April 2025 for 275 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012349 - Mulberry homes). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while safe access for construction traffic is provided by Mulberry Homes.

The Order will come into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ongar Road, Great Dunmow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ongar Road, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 80m south west of its junction with Clapton Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 115m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd March 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (NK102LCIN00058 - Virgin Media). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new track and chamber installation works are undertaken by Virgin Media.

An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Lukins Mead Roundabout, Chelmsford Road, Dunmow Road, Main Road, Warners Farm Roundabout, Essex Regiment Way, Sheepcotes Roundabout, Wheelers Farm Roundabout, Pratts Farm Roundabout, Channels Drive Roundabout, Nabbotts Farm Roundabout, Chelmer Valley Road, Springfield Hall Roundabout, Rectory Lane, Parkway, Rainsford Road, Roxwell Road, Roxwell Road Roundabout, Bishops Stortford Road, Chelmsford Road, Dunmow Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(High Lane, Stansted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Lane, Stansted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Birchalls for a distance of approximately 55m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th March 2025 for 13 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06060679LS - Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via High Lane, Cambridge Road, Chapel Hill, Lower Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Old Mead Road, Elsenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Old Mead Road, Elsenham in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with New Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a north westerly, north easterly, then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd March 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (KL736BGK-35-44-220325 - Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while maintenance works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Station Road, Henham Road, Hall Road, Mill Road, Crow Street, Church Street, Old Mead Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
