What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows:

  1. The lengths of roads as detailed in Schedule 1 to be closed to all traffic, suspend all parking restrictions and temporarily introduce a no waiting no loading or unloading restriction.
  2. During the operations of the road closures the restrictions as detailed in Schedule 2 will be temporarily suspended.

The Order will come into force from 7 March 2025 as and when required for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. Should the works take longer than expected the order will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to allow highway and drainage maintenance works to be carried out. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(ST JOHN'S HILL AND FRIAR STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the entire length of St John's Hill and Friar Street between Greyfriars Road and Station Road and suspend all parking restrictions and introduce a NWAAT restriction whilst coring and resurfacing works are carried out. Additionally, the one-way traffic restriction along St John's Hill and St John's Road will be suspended during the resurfacing works. The Order will come into force from 19 March 2025 as and when required for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. These measures will be implemented when needed by traffic signs using rolling road or lane closures. The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety to allow core samples to be taken and carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(PALMER PARK AVENUE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays and impose a no stopping or waiting or loading at any time restriction from outside numbers 14-20 Palmer Park Avenue. The Order will come into force from 10-13 March 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow construction of a fire hydrant meter supply.

(NEW ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:

  • Impose a road closure along the length of road approximately 10 metres outside 28 New Rd;
  • Suspend the parking bays outside and opposite 22-36 New Rd;
  • Suspend the double yellow lines and impose a no stopping or waiting or loading at any time restriction other than by Thames Water Utility or contractor vehicles outside and opposite numbers 22-36 New Rd.

The Order will come into force from 10-14 March 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate excavation and connection works in relation to new water connections and disconnections. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(PARK LANE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays outside numbers 8-11 Park Lane for up to 25 months.

The Order will come into force from 11-13 March 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to lay telecoms duct.

(BATH ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the bus lane restriction from 48 Bath Road. If made, the Order will come into force from 17 March 2025 and will be in effect between 10:00 - 13:00 hrs. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary in order to allow access to the carriageway asset for leak detection survey.

(LONDON STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays outside numbers 73-77 London Street for approx. 36 metres.

If made, the Order will come into force from 10-23 March 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for water service disconnections.
