Reading - Variation of On-Street Pay and Display Parking Charges

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

NOTICE OF VARIATION OF ON-STREET PAY AND DISPLAY PARKING CHARGES AND TARIFFS

This notice varies the previously published notice dated 6 February 2025 which outlined proposed changes to on-street pay and display on-street parking charges and the simplification of tariff categories into three locations: Inner Central, Outer Reading, and Out of Town.

Some on-street charges for Wokingham Road were omitted from the initial notice and some streets have been correctly assigned to the wrong parking areas.

It is hereby given that Reading Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 46A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Regulation 25 of the Local Authorities' Traffic Orders Procedure (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 and all other enabling powers is varying parking charges in connection with the Schedule below. The revised parking areas are also set out below.

These changes will come into effect from 1 April 2025.

New parking areas

Inner Central – This area covers central Reading including:

Abbey Street, Blagrave Street, Castle Street, Cheapside, Cintra Avenue, Crossland Road, Deansgate Road, East Street, Eldon Square, Fobney Street, Friar Street, Garrard Street, Great Knollys Street, Greyfriars Road, Hosier Street, Howard Street, Davidson Drive, Kings Road, London Street, Mill Lane, Northfield Road, Oxford Road, Sackville Street, Sidmouth Street, South Street, St Mary's Butts, Stanhope Road, Tudor Mews, Tudor Street, Valpy Street, Weldale Street, West Street, Wokingham Road

Outer Reading – This area includes locations just outside of the town centre:

Alexandra Road, Alexandra Road, Denmark Road, Elmhurst Road, Erleigh Road, Kendrick Road, Morgan Road, Oxford Road, Redlands Road, Upper Redlands Road

Out of town – This area covers locations further from the town centre:

Wokingham Road, Pepper Lane
