Ulverston, Temporary Footpath Closure Due To High-Pressure Gas Pipeline Diversion

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 578016 IN THE PARISH OF ULVERSTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cadent Gas to carry out the diversion of a high-pressure gas pipeline ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Footpath No. 578016 in the Parish of Ulverston between grid references: 329597, 478438 and 330401, 478096. A suitable alternative route for pedestrians will be available via North Lonsdale Road, past the Westmorland and Furness Council depot, along the permissive path and over rolling railway bridge.

The Order will come into operation on 24 March 2025 and may continue in force for a period of up to six months from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed. It is anticipated that the path closure will only be required at certain times of the day, each day to allow for vehicular and equipment movement.
