Durham, Temporary Road & Footpath Closures Due To Water Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Mona Street, Lees Street, Lees Street/ Slaidburn Road Rear, Bell Street/Beaconsfield Street Rear, Rear Eden Terrace, Palmer Street Rear, Rose Avenue Rear, Rose Avenue/King Terrace Rear, Hardy Terrace Rear, Westfields and Eastfields, Stanley) (Temporary Road and Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The Council on 28/2/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road and footpath.

Road Closures (Closed to vehicular traffic): Mona Street a 39 metre length from the junction with the A693 High Street to the front of Number 6 Mona Street; Lees Street a 49 metre length from the junction with Mona Street to the side of Number 1 Slaidburn Road; Lees Strest/Slaidburn Road Rear a 99 metre length to the rear of Number 1 to 17 Lees Street and Number 1 to 24 Slaidburn Road; Bell Street/Beaconsfield Street Rear a 63 metre length to the rear of Number 16 to 28 Beaconsfield and Number 1 to 13 Belle Street; Rear Eden Terrace a 102 metre length to the rear of Number 19 to 38 Eden Terrace; Palmer Street Rear a 73 metre length to the rear of Number 24a to 37 Palmer Street; Rose Avenue Rear a 135 metre length to the rear of Number 27 Rose Terrace to the junction with Salisbury Street; Rose Avenue/King Terrace Rear a 131 metre length to the rear of Number 1 to 26 Rose Avenue and Number 26 to 50 King Terrace; Hardy Terrace Rear a 46 metre length from the junction with Oxhill Villas to the rear of Number 1 Hardy Terrace; Westfields a 130 metre length from the junction with C11 Park Road to the rear of Number 14; a 91 metre length from the side of Number 96 to the rear of Number 87; a 13 metre length to the side of Number 87; a 91 metre length from the rear of Number 33 to the rear of Number 56 and an 81 metre length from the rear of Number 126 to the side of Number 127; Eastfields a 213 metre length from the rear of Number 94 clockwise to the rear of Number 54.

Footpath Closures (Closed to pedestrian traffic): Westfields a 74 metre length from the rear of Number 5 to 17; a 23 metre length to the rear of Number 1 to 4; a 72 metre length to the rear of Number 96 to 87; a 41 metre length to the rear of Number 104 to 110; a 90 metre length from the rear of Number 22 to the front of Number 33; a 141 metre length to the front of Number 33 to the rear of Number 58; a 33 metre length to the rear of Number 33 to 41; a 94 metre length from the rear of Number 59 to 71; a 79 metre length from the rear of Number 5 Coniston Court to the side of Number 66 Eastfields; a 49 metre length to the rear of Number 111 to 116; a 134 metre length from the rear of Number 126 to the rear of Number 131; a 60 metre length from the rear of Number 132 to the side of Number 137 and a 75 metre length to the rear of Number 138 to 147; Eastfields a 78 metre length from the rear of Number 55 to 65; an 84 metre length from the rear of Number 110 to the front of Number 54; a 75 metre length from the rear of Number 51 to 43; a 64 metre length to the front of Number 103 to 95 and a 130 metre length to the rear of Number 78 to 94 to enable water main renewal works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure alternative routes, where available, will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works (done under a rolling closure) are to commence from 8am on Monday 10/3/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 14 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
