What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (High Haden Crescent, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along H igh Haden Crecent between the extended boundaries of No’s 17/19 to No’s 23/25. Traffic will be diverted via High Haden Road and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 12/03/2025 effective from 10/03/2025. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Churchbridge/Park Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Right Turning) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles travelling in a southerly direction along Churchbridge turning right in to Park Street. A diversion route for traffic wishing to right turn into Park Street will be signed via Churchbridge, Birchley Island and Churchbridge. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 11/03/2025 (9:30am-3:30pm only). Purpose – to facilitate repairs to a traffic signal pole following an earlier road traffic collision. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Market Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closure, Footway Closure and Suspension of Two-Way Traffic Operation) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles f rom proceeding a long M arket Street, which will be closed from the junction of Church Street for 30 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintaine, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Church Street, Wesley Street and Queen Street. The order has made an order to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the footways on both the southern and northern sides of Market Street, which will be closed from the junction of Church Street for 30 metres. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Church Street, Wesley Street, Queen Street and vice-versa. The existing one-way traffic operation of Market Street (eastern side of the road closure) will be suspended and two-way traffic operation introduced for access/egress whilst the works are in progress. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 24/03/2025 effective from 10/03/2025. Purpose – to facilitate access for roofing works by DWR Roofing and Carpentry Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (New Birmingham Road, Tividale) (Temporary Central Reserve Gap Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via the Central Reserve Gap which will be closed outside 176 New Birmingham Road. Traffic will be diverted via New Birmingham Road, Burnt Tree, Dudley Port, Sedgley Road East, Tipton Road, Dudley Road East and Lower City Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 11/07/2025 effective from 10/03/2025. P urpose – to facilitate access to construct a new cycleway by Fitzgerald Contractors Ltd on behalf of Sandwell MBC. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Poplar Avenue, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Poplar Avenue, which will be closed from the dividing line of property Nos.6 & 8 to the dividing line of property No.2 on 07/03/2025. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Dudley Road, Shrubbery Avenue and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 07/03/2025 (09:30am-3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for repair works by Severn Trent Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Newton Road, Great Barr) (Temporary No Right Turn Restriction) and (Queslett Road, Great Barr) (Temporary No Left Turn Restriction) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via a right turning movement from Newton Road to Walsall Road and a left turning movement from Queslett Road to Walsall Road. Newton Road (no right turn restriction) Traffic will be diverted via Birmingham Road (northbound) to the M6 junction 7 roundabout, Birmingham Road (southbound), Newton Road, All Saints Way, The Expressway, M5 junction 1 roundabout, Birmingham Road, Holyhead Road, Island Road, Sandwell Road, Oxhill Road, Church Lane and Wellington Road. Queslett Road (no left turn restriction) Traffic will be diverted via Newton Road, All Saints Way, The Expressway, M5 junction 1 roundabout, Birmingham Road, Holyhead Road, Island Road, Sandwell Road, Oxhill Road, Church Lane and Wellington Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 15/03/2025 effective from 13/03/2025 (8pm-6am each evening/morning). Purpose – to facilitate access for carriageway resurfacing works by Roadway UK TM Ltd on behalf of Transport for West Midlands.
