The Council of the Borough of Kirklees propose to make the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of road in the Huddersfield area of the Kirklees district, will be to:

1. Prohibit entry onto the existing length of Albert Street, Huddersfield from the new link section of Albert Street

2. Introduce no left turn restrictions onto the following lengths of road:
i. For all vehicles:
a. From Bridge Street, Huddersfield to Albert Street, Huddersfield
b. From Meltham Road, Huddersfield to Swan Lane Huddersfield
ii. For all vehicles except for pedal cycles and local buses:

c. From Lockwood Road, Huddersfield to Bridge Street, Huddersfield

3. Introduce no right turn restrictions onto the following lengths of road:
i. For all vehicles:
a. From Albert Street, Huddersfield to Bridge Street, Huddersfield
ii. For all vehicles except for pedal cycles and local buses:
b. From Bridge Street, Huddersfield to Lockwood Road, Huddersfield

REASON: This order is proposed to introduce a number of moving traffic restrictions across this area as part of a major project to improve Huddersfield Southern Corridors includes a scheme covering A616 Lockwood Road / Bridge Street / Albert Street / Crowther Street. Included in this scheme is a new link road from Lockwood Road to Albert Street.

The proposed traffic regulation order covers restricting turning movements to enable the traffic signals to operate efficiently and effectively.
