A14 Trunk Road (Catthorpe to Thrapston) & A45 Trunk Road (Hardingstone) - Temporary Traffic Restrictions

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) and (7) THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (CATTHORPE TO THRAPSTON) 

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A14 Trunk Road, between Catthorpe and Thrapston, in West and North Northamptonshire, to allow routine maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close, in phases, any layby situated adjacent to -

(a)  the eastbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the M6 at Catthorpe, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from the roundabout junction with the A605 and the A45 (Thrapston Interchange); and

(b)  the westbound carriageway of the A14 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to Thrapston Interchange, to its junction with the M6 at Catthorpe.

The laybys will be closed between 13:00 hours and 06:00 hours.  The work is expected to start on Tuesday 1 April 2025 and continue for approximately six weeks. The Order will come into force on Tuesday  25 March 2025.

Vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.

THE A45 TRUNK ROAD (HARDINGSTONE, WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE)

(SLIP ROADS) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A45 Trunk Road in West Northamptonshire, to enable junction improvement works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order, will be to, at different times, –

(1)  impose a speed restriction of 40 miles per hour on –

(a)  a length of the exit slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A45 to the roundabout junction with Hardingstone Lane, the A508 London Road, Mere Way and the B526 Newport Pagnell Road (Queen Eleanor Interchange), at Hardingstone, from the tip of the nosing at its junction with the A45 for a distance of 60 metres; and

(b)  a length of the exit slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A45 to Queen Eleanor Interchange, from the tip of the nosing at its junction with the A45 for a distance of 185 metres;

(2)  impose a speed restriction of 20 miles per hour on –

(a)  a length of the exit slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A45, to Queen Eleanor Interchange, from a point 60 metres north of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the A45, to its junction with Queen Eleanor Interchange; and

(b)  a length of the exit slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A45, to Queen Eleanor Interchange, from a point 185 metres southwest of the tip of the nosing at its junction with the A45, to its junction with Queen Eleanor Interchange; and

(3)  close any slip road leading to or from the A45, to or from Queen Eleanor Interchange.

The work is expected to start on Monday 24 March 2025 and continue for approximately eight months. The slip road closures will be in operation overnight only between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The speed restrictions will be in operation from 20:00 hours on Monday 24 March 2025, for twentyfour hours per day, for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on 21 March 2025.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions and closures. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes using the A508 and Wooldale Road, Mere Way, Towcester Road and Barnes Meadow and alternative junctions of the A45 will be signed. For further information please contact Ergys Ymeri, a project manager on behalf of National Highways Limited, on 07814 772 492.
