What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT

(GREEK STREET ROUNDABOUT, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURES) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Shaw Heath, From the junction of Greek Street in a northerly direction for approx. 70 metres. Shaw Heath, From the junction of Greek Street in a southerly direction for approx. 60 metres. Mercian Way, From the junction of Shaw Heath to the junction of Booth Street. Greek Street, From the junction of Shaw Heath in a north easterly direction for approx. 25 metres. 

Temporary Footway closures at the Footpath from Thomson Street to Greek Street for the full length. Shaw Heath, East footway from the junction of Greek Street in a northerly direction for approx. 75m. Shaw Heath, West footway from the junction of Mercian Way in a northerly direction for approx. 15 metres. Mercian Way, East and west footways from the junction of Shaw Heath to the junction of Newton Street. Shaw Heath, West footway from the junction of Mercian Way in a southerly direction for approx. 60 metres whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads. This Order is necessary because works to replace Network Rail Bridge, including Utility diversions are being or proposed to be carried out. It is anticipated that the maximum duration of the works will be 49 weeks. Alternative routes will be signed on site. 
This Order is to come into operation on the 31 March 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: ZA/7173100.
