What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING & ACCESS ONLY) (TTO 2321) ORDER 2025 (NESS ROAD)

Notice is given that the Southend-on-Sea City Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has proposed to make the above Order. The effect of the Order will be as follows:

Marlborough Highways on behalf of Southend-on-Sea City Council will be carrying out work to renew the kerbs and widen the carriageway at Ness Road.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce a temporary prohibition of parking and traffic (including waiting, loading and unloading) at Ness Road, from its junction with Watson Close to its roundabout with Delaware Road. Delaware Road and North Shoebury Road will temporarily prohibit access only.

Diversion routes will be as follows:

  • Diversion 1: Elm Road – High Street – Smith Street – Campfield Road – Ness Road.
  • Diversion 2: Elm Road – Wakering Road – Poynters Lane – Bournes Green Chase – Maplin Way North.

The Order and prohibitions will come into effect on 10th March 2025 at 9:30am, works are expected to be complete 17th March 2025 however, this Order may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier and will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs.

Access for emergency vehicles, vehicles being used in connection with the works, will be maintained during the closure.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
