What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(PEAR TREE LANE AND WASHINGTON LANE, EUXTON, CHORLEY BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the Chorley Borough:-
i. Pear Tree Lane, Euxton from Washington Lane, Euxton to the access into the property named The Bungalow.
ii. Washington Lane, Euxton from the southern boundary of property number 31 to the northeastern boundary of the property named White Oaks.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 10th March 2025 until 1700 hours on Friday 14th March 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will not be maintained owing to the nature of the works making vehicle access through the site not possible. Cyclists will either have to dismount and walk through the pedestrian walkway on site or follow the respective signed diversion route.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained by means of a pedestrian walkway.
5. Alternative routes for vehicular and cycle traffic affected by the closure are via:-
Pear Tree Lane, Euxton
Pear Tree Lane, Euxton – Euxton Lane, Euxton – West Way, Astley Village – Southport Road, Euxton – Washington Lane, Euxton and vice versa.
Washington Lane, Euxton
Washington Lane, Euxton – West Way, Astley Village – Southport Road, Euxton – Washington Lane, Euxton and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow new water connection works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
