Swale, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

HIGHWAYS

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

SWALE AREA

Boxted Lane, Newington, ME9 7DA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Boxted Lane, Newington, from 12th March 2025, with estimated completion by 14th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Breach Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via School Lane, Church Lane, A2 High Street, London Road, Hartlip Hill, Breach Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 1BT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, from 22:00 hours on 11th March 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 12th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Bakers Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 London Road, Key Street, Sheppey Way, B2006 Staplehurst Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Homestall Lane, Graveney, Whitstable Road & Graveney Road, Faversham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow signage installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Homestall Lane, Graveney, Whitstable Road & Graveney Road, Faversham, from 19:00 hours on 26th March 2025, with estimated completion by 07:00 hours on 27th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling West is via Staplestreet Road, A299 Thanet Way, A2 Brenley Corner Roundabout, London Road, Canterbury Road, B2040 Love Lane and Graveney Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling East is via Graveney Road, B2040 Love Lane, A2 Canterbury Road, London Road, Brenley Corner Roundabout, A299 Thanet Way and Whitstable Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Iwade, Newington & Lower Halstow. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Iwade, Newington & Lower Halstow, from 21:00 hours on 10th March 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 11th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

School Lane, Iwade Road and Basser Hill will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for School Lane and Iwade Road is via Iwade Road, Stickfast Lane, Sheppey Way, Ferry Road, School Lane and vice versa.

The alternative route for Basser Hill is via Raspberry Hill Lane, Old Ferry Road, Sheppey Way and The Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Swale - Preservation Treatment. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads in Swale. This Order takes effect on or after 10th March 2025, with estimated completion by 5th April 2026.It may be necessary for some of the roads to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 40 mph & 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.

 works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.

Road Closures & Speed Restrictions

Highsted Road, Sittingbourne

The road will be closed between the junctions with Swanstree Avenue and Bell Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Bell Road, Swanstree Avenue and vice versa.

Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall

The road will be closed between the junctions with Cromers Road and Broadoak Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Tunstall Road, Bredgar Road, Primrose Lane, The Street, Bexon Lane, Ruins Barn Road and vice versa.

Pond Farm Road, Borden

The road will be closed between the junctions with Sutton Baron Road and School Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Sutton Baron Road, Wrens Road, Hearts Delight, Bannister Hill, The Street, Pond Farm Road and vice versa.

Norton Lane, Norton & Norton Road, Norton

The roads will be closed between the junctions with A2 London Road and Provender Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Provender Lane, A2 London Road and vice versa.

Lower Road, Tonge

The road will be closed between the junctions with Frognal Lane and Hempstead Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Hempstead Lane, A2 London Road, Station Road, and vice versa.

Canterbury Road, Boughton Under Blean & Chalkey Road, Boughton Under Blean

Canterbury Road will be closed between the junctions with Chalkey Road and Stockers Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Chalkey Road, Staple Street, Butts Hill, Bull Lane, The Street and Stockers Hill.

Chalkey Road will be closed in its entirety, with operatives on site to control vehicle movements.

Faversham Road & The Street, Doddington & Newnham

The roads will be closed between the junctions with North Eastling Road and Church Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via The Street, Chequers Hill, Doddington Lane, Christophers Row, The Street, Lynsted Lane, A2 London Road, Faversham Road, and vice versa.
