What is happening?

(FOOTPATH RC9, CHATHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council on 12 September 2024 made an Order the effect of which will be to close the above-mentioned footpath until 15 March 2025 for safety reasons during building works.

The Secretary of State for Transport has approved the continuing in force of the Order until 15 September 2025 as the works are ongoing and it is appropriate for the footpath to remain closed to prevent any dangers to users of the footpath.

Footpath RC9, Chatham - to be closed between the junction with Shawstead Road and the junction with North Dane Way. An alternative route is available via footpaths RC11; RC13A and RC15.

This extension of Order will be valid for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

PROVISION OF PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONES
OUTSIDE SCHOOLS
NOTICE OF PROPOSALS

The Medway Council (School Streets) (Pedestrian and Cycle Zones) (No. *) Traffic Order 2025

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council propose to make the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The general effect of the Order would be to introduce a new ‘pedestrian and cycle zone’ in the vicinity of each of the schools listed in the Schedule to this Notice, operating at the times and comprising the streets or parts of streets listed in that Schedule.
3. All motor vehicles except permit holders would be prohibited from entering the pedestrian and cycle zones during their hours of operation. Virtual permits allowing vehicles to enter a pedestrian and cycle zone would be available to residents and those caring for residents, of premises located within or only accessible from the pedestrian and cycle zones, by application to the Council. Local buses would be exempt from the restriction (Orchard Street and View Road). Further exemptions would apply to vehicles of those dropping off or picking up students with special educational needs or who
are disabled (the details of such vehicles being registered with the school) and to emergency service vehicles, school buses and certain other service vehicles and utility vehicles (in an emergency only) and also to school staff requiring access to parking facilities within school grounds. Any vehicle that is already within the pedestrian and cycle zone prior to its commencement of operation would be permitted to leave.
4. Copies of the proposed Order, plans and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected at the front reception, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, except for bank and public holidays. Electronic copies of the documents can be requested by sending an email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk on the understanding that requests may take up to 5 working days to be completed.
5. Any objections or other representations to the proposed Order should be sent in writing by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk or by post to “Parking Design team” at the address specified in paragraph 4 above, by Friday, 28 March 2025 to be considered, stating name, address and grounds for objection or support.

SCHEDULE

(1) pedestrian and cycle zones operating between 8am and 9.15am and between 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Cliffe Woods Primary School, comprising of the following road: VIEW ROAD, CLIFFE WOODS (between Merryboys Road and Milton Avenue).
(2) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.15am and 9.15am and between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Fairview Primary School, comprising of the following roads: DREWERY DRIVE, GILLINGHAM (between Maidstone Road and Edward Close); ST MARGARETS DRIVE, GILLINGHAM; CARVORAN WAY, GILLINGHAM; EDWARDS CLOSE, GILLINGHAM and LAKEWOOD DRIVE, GILLINGHAM.
(3) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8am and 9am and between 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to High Halstow Primary School, comprising of the following road: HARRISON DRIVE, HIGH HALSTOW, ROCHESTER.
(4) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.20am and 9am and between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Hilltop Primary School, comprising of the following road: HILLTOP ROAD, WAINSCOTT, ROCHESTER (between Cooling Road and Marden Road).
(5) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8am and 9am and between 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to St. Margarets Church of England Infant and Junior School, comprising of the following roads: ORCHARD STREET, RAINHAM, GILLINGHAM (between Broadview Avenue and Thames Avenue); TUDOR GROVE, RAINHAM, GILLINGHAM; HURST PLACE, RAINHAM, GILLINGHAM and GATEKEEPER CHASE, RAINHAM, GILLINGHAM.
(6) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8am and 9am and between 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to St William of Perth Catholic Primary School, comprising of the following roads: CANON CLOSE, ROCHESTER and RECTORY GRANGE, ROCHESTER.

(CONSOLIDATION AND REVOCATION OF BUS
PRIORITIES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE OF MAKING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 4 March 2025 made the above- mentioned Order. The general effect of the Order, which comes into operation on 10 March 2025, is to introduce new bus-only routes and at the same time consolidate existing bus-only routes and bus lanes into a single Order for ease of reference, all in connection with Civil Enforcement for Moving Traffic Restrictions and the provision of camera enforcement under Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004:-
(a) New Bus Lanes – all days and at all times
(i) CHATHAM HILL, CHATHAM (towards Rock Avenue) – the north-eastern side from a point 3.75 metres west of the boundary of Nos.114-116 Chatham Hill, to the boundary between Nos.131-133 Chatham Hill, a distance of 415
metres in a south-easterly direction.

Exemptions are included for use of the above bus lane by: local buses, taxis
and Medway Private Hire Vehicles, marked emergency services vehicle;
cycles; any vehicle requiring access to off-street premises and any vehicle,
the overall height of which including any load, exceeds 15`16”
(ii) CHATHAM HILL, CHATHAM (towards Luton Arches) – the south-western side from a point 15 metres west of the junction with Grange Hill, to a point 0.5 metres west of the boundary of Nos.14-16 Chatham Hill, a distance of 398 metres in a north-westerly direction.

Exemptions are included for use of the above bus lane by: Local buses, taxis,
Medway Private Hire Vehicles, marked emergency services vehicle; pedal
cycles and any heavy goods vehicle (HGV) exceeding 7.5T
(iii) CORPORATION STREET, ROCHESTER – the south-western side from the
junction with Northgate, to a point 4.5 metres east of the north-western boundary wall of No.15 High Street, a distance of 185 metres in a north-
westerly direction.

Exemptions are included for use of the above bus lane by: Local buses, taxis,
Medway Private Hire Vehicles, marked emergency services vehicle and cycles
(b) Existing Bus Lanes and Bus-only Routes – all days and at all times
The existing Bus Lane in The Brook, Chatham and Bus-only routes in Globe Lane, Chatham, (north-western) and (south-eastern) arms, High Street, Chatham, Kestrel Road, Chatham, Waterfront Way, Chatham and Riverside, Strood have been incorporated into this Order for ease of reference with no material changes made, other than the intention to enforce the existing restrictions via camera.

Persons wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.

Copies of the Order and associated documents can be requested by sending an email to parkingdesign@medway.gov.uk or by writing to Parking Design team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made.

(EDINBURGH ROAD, CHATHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enale to enable water supply works to be carried out -

Edinburgh Road, Chatham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 33 Edinburgh Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Luton Road, Connaught Road and Alexandra Road.

This Order will come into force on Monday, 17 March 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 17 March 2025 and are programmed for completion within five days. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.
