What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 45, Myland)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the Footpath 45, Myland in the Borough of Colchester, from its junction with Footpath 44, north for approximately 230 meters.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 01 March 2025 to 31 December 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and is required for the safety of the public while network rail structure works are undertaken.

Alternative route: A viable path in the adjacent field to the east, the other side of the field.

The Order will come into effect on 01 March 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months if the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Queen Street, Brightlingsea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Queen Street, Brightlingsea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Windsor Court for a distance of approximately 50m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT00110255893 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while boundary box replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Queen Street, Spring Road, Ladysmith Avenue, Victoria Place, Queen Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 6th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order (No.9) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of roads and those in the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 6th March 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. To temporarily introduce a banned left-hand turn from Straight Road, Colchester into London Road, Colchester.

  3. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of roads and those in the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

(Cowdray Avenue, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Cowdray Avenue, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Catchpool Road to its junction with Mason Road, a distance of approximately 285m (eastbound only).

  2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

An alternative route is available via A133, A134, A133 (with access into only Cowdray Avenue).

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Green Lane, Boxted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Green Lane, Boxted in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 70m south of its junction with Boxted Church Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th March 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC3009504171 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Boxted Church Road, Church Road, Wet Lane and vice versa (with access only into Green Lane).

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Harwich Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Harwich Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Harwich Road Roundabout to its junction with Longcroft Road, a distance of approximately 200m (northbound only). The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 15 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001389843 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via A133, A1232, A12, A14, A137 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Station Road, Alresford)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Station Road, Alresford in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 20m north of its junction with Poundfield Close for a distance of approximately 35m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th March 2025 for 1 night (01:00-08:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL701C0C-57-86-160325 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while road, rail & civil engineering works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Station Road, St Osyth Road, Coach Road, Wivenhoe Road, Station Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Trinity Street, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of One Way Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Trinity Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Culver Street West to its junction with Sir Isaacs Walk, a distance of approximately 125m.

  2. To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in Sir Isaacs Walk, Colchester, as detailed in The Colchester Borough (Culver Street West, Trinity Street and Sir Isaac’s Walk, Colchester) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1996 for the duration of the closure.

The closure/suspension are scheduled to commence on 9th March 2025 for 53 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP0231201323 – NMT Crane Hire Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension are required for the safety of the public and workforce while redevelopment works are undertaken by NMT Crane Hire Ltd.

An alternative route is available via North Hill, Middleborough, Middleborough Roundabout, Balkerne Hill Southbound, Maldon Road Roundabout, Southway Eastbound, Headgate (with access only into Culver Street West, Sir Isaacs Walk).

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of Banned Turn) Order (No.7) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. To temporarily suspend the bus way in that length of High Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester from its junction with Queen Street, west for a distance of 50 meters, as detailed in The Essex County Council (Head Street, High Street, North Hill & Middleborough, Colchester) (Experimental Bus Lane) Order 2013. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

  3. To temporarily suspend the bus way in that length of Middleborough, Colchester in the City of Colchester from its junction with North Hill, west for a distance of 47 meters as detailed in the same order.

  4. To temporarily suspend the bus way in that length of North Hill, Colchester in the City of Colchester from its junction with St Peter’s Street to its junction with High Street as detailed in The Essex County Council (Head Street, High Street, North Hill & Middleborough, Colchester) (Experimental Bus Lane) Order 2013. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

  5. To temporarily introduce a banned right-hand turn from Severalls Lane, Colchester into Ipswich Road, Colchester.

  6. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of road and those in the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
