Clacton-on-Sea – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Mains Replacement Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Burrs Road, Clacton-on-Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Burrs Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Heather Close for a distance of approximately 205m in a south easterly direction. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th March 2025 for 14 days, or where stated on a valid permit (A2501100139525 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

An alternative route is available via Sladburys Lane, Holland Road, Thorpe Road, Stephenson Road West, North Road, St Johns Road, Valley Road (which covers only its Burrs Road, Telford Road and Gorse Lane).

The Order will come into effect on 6th March 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is earlier.

(Holland Road/Vista Road & St Pauls Road, Clacton-on-Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Holland Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Thoroughgood Road to its junction with Skelmersdale Road a distance of approximately 235m.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Vista Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Holland Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.

  3. To temporarily close that length of Vista Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Holland Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

  4. To temporarily close that length of St Pauls Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Holland Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 24th March 2025 or where stated on a valid permit (A250110138987 & A250110138988 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

An alternative route is available via Valley Road, Oakwood Business Park, Stephenson Road West, and St Johns Road, with access onto only High Street, Holland Road, Vista Road and St Pauls Road.

The Order may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is earlier.

(Jaywick Lane, Clacton-on-Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Jaywick Lane, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Bluehouse Avenue to its junction with Omar Avenue a distance of approximately 75m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 19 days, or where stated on a valid permit (A2501101389181 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via St Johns Road, St Johns Roundabout, London Road, Old Road, Wellesley Road, Wellesley Road Roundabout, Carnarvon Road, Anglefield, Marine Parade East, Marine Parade West, and vice versa (with access only into Jaywick Lane).

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is earlier.

(Telford Road, Clacton-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)

& (Telford Road, Stephenson Road & Brunel Road, Clacton-on-Sea)

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Telford Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Stephenson Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction.

  2. To temporarily introduce a "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping" restriction at any time that length of Telford Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 50m north east of its junction with Burrs Road for a total distance of approximately 350m, for the duration of the above closure only.

  3. To temporarily introduce a 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction in that length of Stephenson Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Davy Road to its junction with Telford Road a distance of approximately 80m, for the duration of the above closure only.

  4. To temporarily introduce a 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction in that length of Brunel Road, Clacton-on-Sea in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Wade Road to its junction with Telford Road, a distance of approximately 95m, for the duration of the above closure only.

The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/restrictions are scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 37 days, or where stated on a valid permit (A2501101384062 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Burrs Road, Gorse Lane, Thorpe Road, Holland Road Roundabout, Stephenson Road West, Stephenson Road Roundabout, Stephenson Road and vice versa (with access only into the Telford Road).

The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

(No.5) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Tendring as specified in the Schedule.

  2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of road, for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken affect roads within an 18-month period from 20th February 2025; exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate the passage of works and enhance the safety of the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed in some cases by a letter/leaflet drop and advance warning signs on the road.
