South Gloucestershire Council Definitive Map and Statement South Gloucestershire Council (Footpath between School Way and Ableton Lane at Severn Beach) Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025
The above Order made on 19 February 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them the footpath commencing at the adopted highway on School Way, adjacent to No.1 School Way, at Point A on the Order plan (grid reference ST 5432 8456), running in a generally westerly direction along a surfaced path within the grounds and to the south of Ableton Court for a distance of 71m to meet the adopted highway and public footpath ORN 19 at Ableton Lane at Point B (grid reference ST 5425 8456). Shown as a bold broken line marked A – B on the map contained in this order. The width of the path is 1.8m throughout its length. The total length is 71m. The number of the footpath to be added is ORN 83.

Please note that all representations received may be considered in public by the Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection. If no such representations or objections are duly made to the order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the South Gloucestershire District Council, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State may itself confirm the order. If the order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
(Footpath OPA 3 at Patchway Common Recreation Ground) Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025
The above order, made on 19 February 2025, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert that length of public footpath OPA 3 in the Parish of Stoke Lodge & The Common in the Unitary District of South Gloucestershire from its junction with public footpath OPA 4, at the stream just south of Stanshaws Close, at Point A (grid reference ST 6110 8264), running in a southwesterly direction for a distance of 111m across the playing field, play area, skateboard area and car park to the adopted highway on The Avenue at Point B (grid reference ST 6103 8256). Shown by a bold continuous line marked A – B on the order map to a line running from the junction of an existing tarmac path with public footpath OPA 4, approximately 20m south of Stanshaws Close at Point C (grid reference ST 6111 8263), running in a west-southwesterly direction along the tarmac path for a distance of 63m to Point E (grid reference ST 6105 8260), close to the southwestern corner of the Pavilion building, where the path turns to a southerly direction running parallel to the eastern edge of the car park for a distance of 39m to Point F (grid reference ST 6104 8257) then turning to a westerly direction along the southern edge of the car park for 20m to meet the adopted highway at the car park entrance on The Avenue at Point B (grid reference ST 6103 8256). Having a width of 1.8m between Point C and Point D (grid reference ST 6107 8261) and a width of 2m between Point D and Point B and shown by a bold broken line marked C – D – E – F – B on the order map.

(Old Gloucester Road, Winterbourne) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Old Gloucester Road which extends from a point 350m south of Perrinpit Road southwards for 330m.
This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. The order became operative from 3 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: B4427, B4059, B4058, B4057 and vice versa.
(Ashwicke Road, Marshfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Ashwicke Road which extends from a point 920m west of Oakford Lane north westwards for 40m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works.
The order became operative from 3 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: Ashwicke Road, A420, High Street, St Martin’s Lane, Ashwicke Road.
(Burton Road, Acton Turville) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Burton Road which extends from Tormarton Road to its county boundary with Wiltshire.
This order is required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. The order will be operative from 25 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months.
The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 8:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: Old Sodbury Road, Malmesbury Road, Bath Road, Gloucester Road, Chippenham Road, A420, B4039, Hillside and vice versa.
(Footpath and Cyclepath MOD Perimeter) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers and Pedal Cycles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers and pedal cycles that length of Footpath and Cyclepath MOD Perimeter which extends from Cyclepath Kipling Road north eastwards for 700m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon electric and telecom installation works.
The order will be operative from 24 March 2025 for a maximum period of six months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 weeks duration.
Alternative route: Cyclepath Kipling Road, Wallscourt Road South, Filton Avenue, Nutfield Grove, Emma-Chris Way, Station Road, PROW LFN/11/10, PROW LFN/11/20, PROW LSG/21/10, PROW LSG/21/20 and vice versa.
(Public Footpath LFN/11/20 and Public Footpath LSG/21/10, Stoke Gifford) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers the lengths of footpath specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pipe welding works.
The order will be operative from 24 March 2025 for a maximum period of six months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. Schedule: Footpath LFN/11/20 – from LFN/11/10 to LSG/21/10; Footpath LSG/21/10 – from LFN/11/20 to LSG/21/20. Alternative route: Station Road.
(Fishpool Hill, Brentry) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Fishpool Hill which extends from a point 470m north east of Swanmoor Crescent north eastwards for 40m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon service pipe cut off works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 3 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. No alternative route available: No through road.
(Waters Road, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Waters Road which extends from a point 35 metres north west of School Road northwards for 80m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with gas main upgrade works. The order became operative from 3 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 weeks duration. Alternative route: Waters Road, Hillside Avenue, Britannia Road, School Road, Waters Road and vice versa.
(Various Roads, Almondsbury And Easter Compton) (20 Mph Speed Limit) (30 Mph Speed Limit) (Restricted Roads) Order 202(-)
Details of the proposed changes
NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 82(2), 83(2), 84(1) and (2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: a) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in lengths of Bennett Close, Golding Close, Rendell Road and Watson Way, Almondsbury; b) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in lengths of Station Road, Almondsbury; c) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour in lengths of Blackhorse Hill, Easter Compton; and d) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads at Easter Compton) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2008 in so far as it relates to B4055 Blackhorse Hill, in favour of c) above.

(Bowstreet Lane, Easter Compton) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- a) close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; b) suspend, temporarily, when signs are covered, the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, District of Northavon – Crossing) (Weight Restriction Zone) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) (Uni-directional Weight Restriction) Order 1996 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles.
This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon sewer connection works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 24 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration. SCHEDULE 1: Bowstreet Lane – from Farm Lane to Hollywood Lane;
SCHEDULE 2: Severn Road – the entire length. Alternative route: Berwick Lane, Severn Road, A403 Severn Road, B4055 and vice versa.
(Moorend Road, Hambrook) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Moorend Road which extends from Worrells Lane to Old Bromley Heath Road. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon retaining wall repair works on or adjacent to the highway.
The order will be operative from 24 March 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 1 month duration. Alternative route: Worrells Lane, Bury Hill and vice versa.
