What is happening?

City Of Westminster
Dean Street, Great Chapel Street, Hollen Street And Sheraton Street

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council on 24th February 2025 made the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49, 63 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:

- The City of Westminster (G Zone) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2025; and

- The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. 5) Traffic Order 2025.

2. The general effect of the Orders will be to continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the following experimental Orders: 

- The City of Westminster (Loading Bays) (No. 1) Experimental Order 2023;

- The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. 1) Experimental Traffic Order 2023; and

- The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (No. 1) Experimental Order 2023, so as to retain the following measures on a permanent basis:

(a) "no entry" prohibitions for all vehicles, except pedal cycles, in:

(i) Dean Street, at its junction with Diadem Court, affecting northbound traffic heading towards Fareham Street;

(ii) Great Chapel Street, at its junction with Oxford Street / Newman Street, affecting southbound traffic heading into Great Chapel Street;

(iii) Hollen Street, at the party wall of No. 18 Hollen Street and No. 24 Great Chapel Street, affecting westbound traffic heading towards Great Chapel Street; and

(iv) Sheraton Street, at its junction with Great Chapel Street, affecting westbound traffic heading towards Great Chapel Street;

(b) a prohibition of motor vehicles (signed as a "Pedestrian and Cycle Zone) in Dean Street, between Carlisle Street and Diadem Court, between 4.00p.m. and 10.00a.m. throughout the week; and

(c) an amendment to the hours of control for the loading bay outside No. 91 Dean Street so that it may only be used between 10.00a.m. and 4.00p.m. throughout the week (maximum stay of 30 minutes, no return within 1 hour) - waiting and loading will be restricted in this loading bay between 4.00p.m. and 10.00a.m. throughout the week.

3. The Orders, which will come into force on 3rd March 2025, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until 7th April 2025 at https://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/notices and, in person by appointment only, at Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP, between 9.00a.m. and 5.00p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (except bank / public holidays). 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
