MAE GWEINIDOGION CYMRU yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn o dan adran 14 o Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 oherwydd bod llain ar y môr israddol y dyddiwyd ar y M48 hwn. Mae angen y Gorchymyn arfaethedig oherwydd y tebygolrwydd o berygl i’r cyhoedd a’r cyfleuster yn sgil rhwystrau difrodedig diogelwch ar draffordd yr M48 rhwng Cyffordd 23 (Rogiet) a Chyffordd 2 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse) yn Sir Fynwy.

Effaith y Gorchymyn arfaethedig fydd gosod terfyn cyflymder 50 mya dros dro ar y darnau o’r draffordd a bennir yn yr Atodlen i’r Hysbysiad hwn.

Disgwylir y bydd y cyfyngiad dros dro, a godir arwyddion priodol yn ei gylch, yn weithredol o 00:00 o’r gloch ar 11 Mawrth 2025 ac yn parhau mewn grym am gyfnod o 18 mis ar y mwyaf.

Y darn o gefnffordd tua’r gorllewin yr M48 yn ymestyn o bwynt 200 o fetrau i’r dwyrain o ymunfa’r ffordd tuag mewn tua’r dwyrain y M48 wrth Gyffordd 2 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse) i fan lle y mae’n uno â chefnffordd tua’r gorllewin yr M4 wrth Gyffordd 23 (Rogiet).

THE M48 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 23 (ROGIET) TO JUNCTION 2

(NEWHOUSE INTERCHANGE), MONMOUTHSHIRE)

(TEMPORARY 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202-

THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary due to the likelihood of danger to the public because of a defective safety barrier on the M48 motorway between Junction 23 (Rogiet) and Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange) in the County of Monmouthshire.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily impose a 50 mph speed limit on the lengths of the motorway specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

The temporary restriction, which will be signed accordingly, is expected to operate from 00:00 hours on 11 March 2025 and remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months.

Temporary 50 mph Speed Limit

The length of the M48 eastbound carriageway that extends from its merge with the M4 eastbound carriageway at Junction 23 (Rogiet) to a point 180 meters east of its nosing with the M48 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange).

The length of the M48 westbound carriageway that extends from a point 200 meters east of its nosing with the M48 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange) to its merge with the M4 westbound carriageway at Junction 23 (Rogiet).
