What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT
(WELLINGTON ROAD SOUTH, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce Temporary Prohibition of a Left Turn at Wellington Road South, Stockport resulting in no left turn onto Greek Street. Whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow work for highway repair to take place. 
It is anticipated that the maximum duration of the work will be one day. Pedestrian access will be maintained and there will be an exemption for emergency vehicles and pedal cycles. Alternative routes will be provided via: Wellington Road South, Exchange Street, Daw Bank, King Street West, Shaw Heath, and vice versa. This Order came into operation on the 23rd of February 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
