THE BRIGHTON & HOVE (BRIGHTON HALF MARATHON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
The Brighton Half Marathon is taking place and finishes at Hove Lawns, Hove. To facilitate its safe passage parts of the route will need to be closed to traffic and therefore Brighton & Hove City Council have made an Order under Sections 16A to C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which temporarily brings into operation the following package of traffic restrictions.
No person shall cause or permit any vehicle that is not participating in, or connected with the Brighton Half Marathon to proceed in, exit from, or turn into any of the lengths of road specified below, except upon the direction or with the permission of a Police Constable in uniform or that of a uniformed marshal, on Sunday, 2 March 2025 from 06:30 to 14:30 with the exception of Kingsway, Kings Road and Mill Road where times are different and the closure times are in BOLD below:
- Marine Parade
- Marine Way – eastbound slip road to A259
- Marine Way – westbound lane from Marina to westbound slip road
- Marine Way – westbound slip road from Marina
- Marine Drive – Arundel Street to Greenways, Ovingdean
- Aquarium Roundabout
- Old Steine
- Pavilion Parade
- Grand Parade
- Richmond Place
- Waterloo Place
- Richmond Terrace
- Ditchling Road – Oxford Street to St Peter’s Place
- Oxford Place
- Brunswick Row
- Queens Road
- Gloucester Place
- St Peter’s Place
- York Place
- St George’s Place
- Marlborough Place
- Edward Street – William Street to Pavilion Parade
- Grand Junction Road
Kings Road from Western Street to West Street – from 03:00 to 14:30
Kings Road from West Street to Grand Junction Road – from 03:00 to 14:30
Kingsway from Grand Avenue to Western Street – from 03:00 to 14:30
- Kingsway – westbound carriageway – Grand Avenue to Wharf Road
- East Street – Kings Road to Grand Junction Road
- Black Lion Street – Kings Road to Old Ship Hotel Garage
- West Street – Kings Road to Russell Road
- Grand Avenue – southbound only, including service road
- Queen’s Gardens – Grand Avenue to Second Avenue
- Second Avenue – Queen’s Gardens to Kingsway
- Wharf Road
- Basin Road South – Wharf Road to Western Esplanade
Mill Road – Dyke Road Avenue to Waterhall Road – road closure from 06:00 to 18:00 hours
Temporary prohibition of waiting and loading at any times:
- Wharf Road for its entire length
Temporary prohibition of no left turn:
- Queens Road into North Street
Temporary suspension of Bus Lane restrictions:
- North Street
- Western Road
Temporary suspension of Bus Gate restrictions:
- Marlborough Place junction of Gloucester Place
- St George’s Place junction of York Place
- Old Steine
Temporary suspension of Pedestrian Zone/Loading Only:
- East Street
- Little East Street
- Ship Street – junction North Street to junction Duke Street
Temporary suspension of existing one-way order for:
- North Road from Jubilee Street to Marlborough Place
- East Street from Taxi Rank to Bartholomews
- Little East Street
- Russell Road
- Preston Street – Western Road to Regency Square
Temporary suspension of the existing one-way order and traffic direction to be reversed (north to south):
- Jubilee Street
The prohibition of southbound traffic:
- East Street – from taxi rank to Bartholomews
- Little East Street
Temporary suspension of the prohibition of motor vehicles order:
- Bartholomews
