What is happening?

BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

BRIGHTON & HOVE VARIOUS CONTROLLED PARKING ZONES CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024 AMENDMENT ORDER NO.3 2025 (TRO-30A-2024)

NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council ("the Council") has on 19 February 2025 made the Order named above under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into operation on 3 March 2025 will introduce the following:

Zone C

  • Old Steine - Makes changes to existing waiting and parking restrictions to introduce no loading at any time, removal of taxi rank, shared parking, motorcycle bay and relocation of doctors' bays and disabled bays.
  • Introduces no loading at any time on part of Steine Street.

Zone Z

  • Old Steine - Makes changes to existing waiting and parking restrictions to introduce no loading at any time, bus stands and loading only at any time on the eastern arm of Old Steine
  • Castle Square - removes loading bay on north side (for the installation of a bus stop clearway) and extends the length of no loading at any time.

Modifications -

Please note that the provisions advertised at the same time as this order as part of the Valley Gardens phase 3 project; namely TRO-30a-2024 (Zone Z Amendments on southern, northern and western arm of Old Steine), TRO-30b-2024 Outer Order (Cycle lane), TRO-30c-2024 (Seafront parking changes), TRO-30d-2024 (Bus Restriction Amendments), TRO-30e-2024 (Traffic Management changes) and TRO-30e-2024 (Madeira Drive One Way amendment) will be sealed and come into force at different times as the project is constructed.

A copy of this Notice, the Order as made and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order may be seen online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/current-tros.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order were made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
