What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Byway 08, Hempstead)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the Byway 08, Hempstead, in the District of Uttlesford from Witchtree Lane to Water Lane for approximately 2,291 metres, the entire length.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 20 February 2025 to 20 May 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage and surface works take place between the dates above.

Alternative route: will be via Witchtree Lane, Bumpstead Road, Water Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 20 February 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Canfield Road, High Roding)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Canfield Road, High Roding in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 80m north west of its junction with Dunmow Road for a distance of approximately 90m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th March 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC4115004W1H4W2 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Canfield Road, Green Street, Dunmow Road, Station Road, Dunmow Road, Stortford Road, Barnston, Junction West, Stortford Road, High Street, Chelmsford Road, Ongar Road, High Easter Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Duck Street, Great Easton/Little Easton)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Duck Street, Great Easton/Little Easton in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction of Broxted Road to the junction of Park Road a distance of approximately 225m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201723497037 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Duck Street, Mill End, Dunmow Road, Mill End, Park Street, Broxted Road, Stanbrook Road, Cherry Street, Dunmow Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ongar Road, Great Dunmow)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ongar Road, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Market Place to its junction with Captain Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 115m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (WX0121000856 – Virgin Media). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new trunk and chamber installation works are undertaken by Virgin Media.

An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Lukins Mead Roundabout, Chelmsford Road, Dunmow Road, Main Road, Warners Farm Roundabout, Essex Regiment Way, Sheepcotes Roundabout, Wheelers Farm Roundabout, Parris Farm Roundabout, Channels Drive Roundabout, Nabbolts Farm Roundabout, Chelmer Valley Road, Springfield Hall Roundabout, Rectory Lane, Parkway, Rainsford Road, Roxwell Road, Roxwell Road Roundabout, Bishops Stortford Road, Chelmsford Road, Dunmow Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Field Gate Lane, Ugley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Field Gate Lane, Ugley in the District of Uttlesford, from a point 135m north east of its junction with Bedwell Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 4th March 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06250215256 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter exchange works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

No alternative route is available.

The Order came into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.4) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Uttlesford as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping" restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 13th February 2025, exact dates to be specified on one.network.

    • Road: Dunmow Road & Old Street Hill, Hatfield Heath/Old Street Hill & High Street & Dunmow Road, Hatfield Broad Oak/Takely

    • Description: From the junction of Chelmsford Road to the junction of Ongar Road, a total distance of approximately 8480m.

  • Alternative Route: Dunmow Road, Stortford Road, Great Dunmow Junction, West Stortford Road, Dunmow Bypass, Stortford Road, Ongar Road, Dunmow Road, Stortford Road, Chelmsford Road and vice versa.
