What is happening?
Essex, County Council
(Footpath 12 (Brickyard Crossing), Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close Footpath 12, Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Footpath 31 eastwards for approximately 32 metres.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 24 February 2025 to 24 August 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public, works are pending and will take place in the future. Subsequently, the footpath will be stopped up permanently.
The alternative route will be via Footpath 31, Footpath 22, Bridleway 60, Footpath 12 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 24 February 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Apton Hall Road, Rochford/Stambridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (Canewdon Road, Ashingdon/Canewdon & Lark Hill Road, Canewdon) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Apton Hall Road, Rochford/Stambridge in the District of Rochford, from the junction of Hyde Wood Lane to the junction of Scotts Hall Road a distance of approximately 1660m.
- To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction at that length of Canewdon Road, Ashingdon & Lark Hill Road, Canewdon, from the junction of Scotts Hall Road to the junction of Ashingdon Road as detailed in the "Essex County Council (Various Roads, Rochford District) (Weight Restriction) Order 1985" to allow HGVs to use the diversion route only.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 19th March 2025 for 23 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP201E3B25622 – Essex County Council). The specified dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway and drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Scotts Hall Road, Lark Hill Road, Canewdon Road, Ashingdon Road, Brays Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 7th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Bells Hill Road, Stanford-Le-Hope) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Bells Hill Road, Stanford-Le-Hope in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with A13 a distance of approximately 10m in a north westerly direction.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only. "The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road. The usual exemptions and restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/restriction are scheduled to commence on 17th March 2025 for 6 days, or where stated on a permit (XEP241E376258 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while signage, lighting and clearance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
Alternative routes are available via:
- Five Bells Slip Road from Southend Road westbound, Nether Mayne, Bells Hill Road.
- Bells Hill Road, Nether Mayne, Five Bells Slip Road from Southend Road eastbound.
The Order will come into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Outwood Farm Road, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Outwood Farm Road, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, approximately 340m east from about east of its junction with Outwood Common Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st March 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PLT1972271713062023 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Outwood Farm Road, Outwood Common Road, Outwood Farm Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 27th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Dunton Road, Laindon)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dunton Road, Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 143.5m east of its junction with Dunton Road for a distance of approximately 50m in an easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC41130450/WMWN0N – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while splicing works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Dunton Road, Wash Road West, Noak Hill Road, Laindon Common Road, Rectory Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Outwood Common Road, Billericay)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Outwood Common Road, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 150m northeast of its junction with Whiteways for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD522001913431 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
An alternative route is available via Outwood Common Road, London Road, Jacksons Lane, Meadow Rise, Hillway and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of in the Borough of Basildon, from the junction with Dunton Road to the junction with New Road a distance of approximately 505m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC4113040F/WMWN0N & BC41130420F/WMWN0N – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Rectory Road, Laindon Common Road, Noak Hill Road, Wash Road West, Dunton Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.1) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping" restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on that length of road as specified in the schedule. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
- The Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Consolidation) Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary "No Waiting at Any Time" restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the road specified for the duration of the works, except where exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order remain in force.
The works are being undertaken as utility works within an 18-month period from 13th February 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. Access will be maintained for emergency services and where possible, access to all other traffic with adequate via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

- To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule to this Order.
- A Temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
- "The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 13th February 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of the work. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed each night and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/ leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
