What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U3169 South Terrace, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
South Terrace – from the junction with U3183 Mann Street to the junction with A2101 Queens Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3169 South Terrace – U3178 Braybrooke Road, Bethune Way – A2101 Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 9 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 9 and 10 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6742 Mayo Lane, Bexhill on Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Mayo Lane – from the junction with A269 Ninfield Road to the junction with C345 Watermill Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A269 Ninfield Road – C345 Watermill Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 10 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 10 and 14 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3214 All Saints Street, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
All Saints Street – from the junction with U3213 Ebenezer Road to the junction with U3211 Courthouse Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3214 All Saints Street, Harold Road – A259 The Bourne – U3211 Courthouse Street.
To maintain access a suspension of one way traffic on All Saints Street will be in place (revert to two way traffic), during these works.
The Order commences 10 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 10 and 14 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3140 Silchester Road, St Leonards-on-Sea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Silchester Road – from the junction with U3140 Stockleigh Road to the junction with A2102 London Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3140 Silchester Road, Gensing Road – U3141 Norman Road – A2102 London Road and vice versa.
The Order commenced 10 June 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 26 February and 4 March 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C97 Adams Lane, Northiam) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Adams Lane – from the junction with U6935 Sempstead Lane to the junction with B2165 Northiam Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6935 Sempstead Lane – U6621 Lordine Lane – B2165 Northiam Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 21 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 21 and 24 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3252 Frederick Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Frederick Road – from the junction with C551 Priory Road to the junction with U3255 Farley Bank.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3252 Frederick Road – B2093 The Ridge, Old London Road – A259 Old London Road – C551 Priory Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 24 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 24 and 28 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6621 Lordine Lane, Ewhurst Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Lordine Lane – from the junction with U6935 Sempstead Lane to the junction with B2165 Northiam Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6935 Sempstead Lane – C97 Adams Lane – B2165 Northiam Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 21 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 21 and 24 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6418 Hog Hill, Icklesham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hog Hill – from the junction with U6966 Windmill Lane to the junction with U6418 Wickham Rock Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic signed and maintained for the duration of the works via U6966 Windmill Lane, Workhouse Lane – A259(T) Main Road, Hastings Road – C298 Monks Walk and vice versa.
The Order commences 24 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 24 and 25 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C215 Elphinstone Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Elphinstone Road – from the junction with A2101 Park Gates roundabout to the junction with C457 Mount Pleasant Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A2101 Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road, Albert Road – A259 Denmark Place, Fountain roundabout, Breeds Place, Pelham Place, Sturdee Place, Marine Parade, East Parade, East Beach Street, The Bourne, Old London Road – C551 Priory Road – C457 Mount Pleasant Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 27 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 27 and 28 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A2101 St Helens Road, Hastings) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
St Helens Road – from the junction with U3040 King Edward Avenue to the junction with U3028 Ghyllside Drive.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic eastbound via A2101 St Helens Road, Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road, Albert Road – A259 Denmark Place, Carlisle Parade, White Rock, Verulam Place, Eversfield Place, Grand Parade – A2102 London Road – A21 London Road, Sedlescombe Road North – A2101 St Helens Road and westbound via A2101 St Helens Road – A21 Sedlescombe Road North, London Road – A2102 London Road, Norman Road, Warrior Square – A259 Grand Parade, Eversfield Place, Verulam Place, White Rock, Carlisle Parade, Denmark Place – A2101 Albert Road, Queens Road, Park Gates roundabout, St Helens Road.

The Order commences 25 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 25 and 27 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A271 Kitchenham Road/Beechdown Wood & B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield) (Temporary 40 & 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024
To allow ALS Civil Engineering Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 40 and 30 mph:

A271 Kitchenham Road, Ashburnham & Catsfield - from a point 200 metres west of the junction with B2204 westwards for a distance of 300 metres.
A271 Beechdown Wood, Ashburnham & Catsfield - from a point 200 metres east of the junction with B2204 eastwards for a distance of 240 metres.
B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield - from a point 150 metres south of the junction with A271 southwards for a distance of 300 metres.
30 mph Speed Limit
A271 Kitchenham Road/Beechdown Wood, Ashburnham & Catsfield - 200 metres either side of the junction with B2204.
B2204 Tellis Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield - from the junction with the A271 for a distance of 150 metres.
The Order commenced 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 24 and 26 February 2025.
