What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN PARK STREET, ST ALBANS AND REDBOURN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. That length of Old Orchard, Park Street from its junction with Hawfield Gardens north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 250m.

    • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. That length of Rowan Close, St Albans from its junction with Cranbrook Drive south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for its entire length.

    • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  3. That length of Townsend Drive, St Albans from its junction with A1081 Harpenden Road north westwards to its junction with Waverley Road, a distance of approximately 236m.

    • An alternative route will be via A1081 (Harpenden Road/St Peters Street), A4147 Catherine Street, Normandy Road, and Waverley Road.

  4. That length of Bettespol Meadows, Redbourn from its junction with Blackhorse Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 252m.

    • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  5. That length of Blackhorse Lane, Redbourn from its junction with Crouch Hall Lane north eastwards, northwards, and north eastwards to its junction with Dunstable Road, a distance of approximately 422m.

    • An alternative route will be via Crouch Hall Lane, Lords Meadow, North Common, Lybury Lane, The Common, Fish Street, High Street, A5183 Redbourn Bypass, Harpenden Lane, High Street, and Dunstable Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SANDPIT LANE, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Sandpit Lane, St Albans from its junction with Battlefield Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Road”).

  • An alternative route will be via Sandpit Lane, Lemsford Road, A1057 Hatfield Road, A1081 St Peters Street, B651 Stonecross, and Sandpit Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 11 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHALKDELL FIELDS, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chalkdell Fields, St Albans from its junction with Marten Gate south westwards for a distance of approximately 16m (“the Road”), except for access.

  • An alternative route will be via Marten Gate, Furse Avenue, and Chalkdell Fields.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PARK HILL, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Hill, Harpenden from its junction with A1081 Luton Road south westwards to its junction with Park Rise, a distance of approximately 350m (“the Road”), except for access.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PARK HILL, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Hill, Harpenden from its junction with A1081 Luton Road south westwards to its junction with Park Rise, a distance of approximately 350m (“the Road”), except for access.

  • An alternative route will be via A1081 Luton Road, Park Mount, and Park Rise.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN SPICER STREET, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Spicer Street, St Albans from its junction with Lower Dagnall Street south westwards to its junction with George Street, a distance of approximately 121m (“the Road”), except for access.

  • An alternative route will be via College Road, A5183 (Verulam Road/Folly Lane/Redbourn Road), A4147 Bluehouse Hill, St Michaels Street, Fishpool Street, and Romeland Hill.

Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE UPLANDS, BRICKET WOOD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Uplands, Bricket Wood from a point in line with the western boundary of No.14 The Uplands south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

  • An alternative route will be via The Uplands, Old Watford Road, Broad Acre, Jenkins Avenue, and The Uplands.

The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (ST ALBANS ROAD, REDBOURN) (40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (ST ALBANS ROAD AND REDBOURN ROAD, REDBOURN) (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2024

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new 40 mph and 50 mph speed limit restrictions on parts of St Albans Road and Redbourn Road, Redbourn as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders will come into effect on Friday 14 March 2025.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders may be viewed from 20 February 2025 to 3 April 2025 during office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford, or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting St Albans and looking at Ref: SA00524.

SCHEDULE 2: 50 mph speed limit restriction – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the Order and accompanying plan – Parts of St Albans Road and Redbourn Road.
