The reason for the closure is for works to be carried out on the Roads in connection with the scheme to address the needs of pedestrians and cyclists currently endeavouring to use the Gloucestershire Cycle Spine Route, when travelling between the towns and villages of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud.

This will implement a continuous cycleway for cyclists of all ages and abilities which in the future will extend to the main hubs of Cheltenham and Gloucester.


The Roads are expected to be closed during various times on a rolling programme, commencing 10th March 2025 where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the closures and restrictions are in force. 

Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the closures taking effect. 

This Order can permit the closure of the roads in any order, or simultaneously as required. It is anticipated all works will be completed by 20th July 2026.

Please note that any existing restrictions which are adversely affected by this closure will be suspended for the duration of the works.

Temporary Closures Of Various Roads (Newent Town) Forest Of Dean District

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close and restrict part of the roads as detailed in the Schedule below.

The reason for the said closures is for carriageway resurfacing works.

The said roads are expected to be closed from the 5th March 2025 where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the closures are in force. Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed, on site, prior to the closure/restrictions taking effect. This intended Order may permit the said closures and restrictions of the said roads in any order, or simultaneously, as required, and it is anticipated all works will be completed by 19th March 2025. Temporary Closure Of U50352 Duglynch Lane (Gretton Parish) Tewkesbury Borough

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the U50352 Duglynch Lane Road from its junction with Gretton Road to the end of the street for a total distance of approximately 330 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for works on behalf of Openreach.

The said road is expected to be closed from 08:00hrs on 10th March 2025 until 18:00hrs on 12th March 2025 only or until the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.

Temporary Closure Of C82, 300082 Staverton To B4063 Junction (Staverton Parish) Tewkesbury Borough

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the C82, 300082 Staverton To B4063 Junction Road, from its junction with Church Lane to outside the property known as ‘Trelawny’, for a total distance of approximately 75 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for works by Severn Trent Water.

The said road is expected to be closed from 08:00hrs on 10th March 2025 until 17:00hrs on 12th March 2025 only or until the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close and restrict (including speed restrictions) part of the lengths of roads as detailed in the Schedules below.

Schedule 12 - Suspended Orders

Articles 5 and 7 of The Borough of Cheltenham (Promenade)(Prohibition of Buses and Pedal Cycles)Order 1991 (Variation to the Borough of Cheltenham (Central Area) (Pedestrian Priority) Order 1987)

Please note that other roads may be affected at the discretion of the police to aid the safe passage of traffic.

The reason for the said closures and restrictions is for public safety in managing traffic during Major Events at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The said roads are expected to be closed and restricted at certain times between the 11th March 2025 and 1st January 2026. 

“The Jockey Club” will provide at least 28 days notice to Gloucestershire County Council for any such event. 

It is likely that it will be predominately in use from 11th March 2025 to 14th March 2025 and 7th November 2025 to 9th November 2025 and also 1st January 2026. 

The presence of approved signage will indicate whether the restrictions are in place.

Temporary Closure Of C75 Brockeridge Road (Twyning Parish) Tewkesbury Borough

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the C75 Brockeridge Road, from its junction with Church End Lane to outside the property known as ‘Stable Cottage’, for a total distance of approximately 20 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for manhole repair/replacement works.

The said road is expected to be closed between 08:00hrs and 17:00hrs on 13th March 2025 only or until the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.
