What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN HITCHIN) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access, and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. That length of West Alley, Hitchin from its junction with A505 Paynes Park south eastwards for its entire length.

    • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. That length of Cemetery Road, Hitchin from its junction with St Johns Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 171m.

    • An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, B656 Hitchin Hill and Standhill Road or via St Johns Road, Whitehill Road, Hollow Lane, B656 (Queen Street/Park Street) and Standhill Road.

  3. That length of Standhill Road, Hitchin from its junction with B656 Hitchin Hill south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 216m.

    • An alternative route will be via B656 (Park Street/Queen Street), Hollow Lane, Whitehill Road, St Johns Road and Cemetery Road or via B656 Hitchin Hill, St Johns Road and Cemetery Road.

  4. That length of St Johns Road, Hitchin from its junction with Latchmore Close north eastwards to its junction with Eynsford Court, a distance of approximately 180m.

    • An alternative route will be via St Johns Road, B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street), Hollow Lane, Whitehill Road and St Johns Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LOWER TITMORE GREEN, LITTLE WYMONDLEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Lower Titmore Green, Little Wymondley from a point 247m south west of its junction with Stevenage Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

  • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  • The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN TAYWOOD CLOSE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Taywood Close, Stevenage from its junction with Shephall Way north westwards, north eastwards and south westwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.

  • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  • Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

  • The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN HITCHIN) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:

  1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A505 Nightingale Road, Hitchin from its junction with Kings Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 60m.

    • An alternative route will be via A505 (Nightingale Road/Bunyan Road/Fishponds Road/Bedford Road/Paynes Park), A602 Park Way and B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street/Walsworth) or via B656 (Walsworth Road/Queen Street/Park Street/Hitchin Hill), A602 Park Way and A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Fishponds Road/Bunyan Road/Nightingale Road).

  2. The existing one-way traffic system on Radcliff Road, Hitchin from its junction with B656 Walsworth Road north westwards to its junction with A505 Nightingale Road, a distance of approximately 289m, will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WARRENS GREEN LANE, WESTON) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Warrens Green Lane, Weston from a point in line with the southern boundary of ‘Warrens Green Cottages’ north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 199m (“the Road”), except for access.

  • There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  • The Order is needed because overhead cabling works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF REDHILL, RUSHDEN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Redhill, Rushden from its junction with The Close northwards and north eastwards to its junction with Sandon Public Footpath No.033, a distance of approximately 350m (“the Road”).

  • An alternative route will be via Redhill, C5 (unnamed road), A507 Clothall Road, B656 Royston Road, A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road) and C5 (unnamed road/Redhill).

  • The Order is needed because the replacement of existing telegraph poles is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PANKHURST CRESCENT, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Pankhurst Crescent, Stevenage from a point in line with the north eastern boundary of No.73 Pankhurst Crescent south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.

  • An alternative route will be via Pankhurst Crescent, Chells Way and Pankhurst Crescent.

  • Additionally, the existing one-way traffic system on Pankhurst Crescent, Stevenage, will be temporarily suspended to enable all traffic to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

  • The Order is needed because electrical service works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN BALDOCK) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

  1. That length of Clare Crescent, Baldock from its junction with Willian Way south eastwards and eastwards to its junction with Mons Avenue, a distance of approximately 150m.

    • An alternative route will be via Nightingale Way, Elmwood Avenue and Mons Avenue.

  2. That length of Mons Avenue, Baldock from its junction with Clare Crescent north eastwards to its junction with Templar Avenue, a distance of approximately 185m.

    • An alternative route will be via Clare Crescent, Nightingale Way and Mons Avenue.

  3. That length of Templar Avenue, Baldock from its junction with B197 London Road north westwards to its junction with Mons Avenue, a distance of approximately 185m.

    • An alternative route will be via B197 London Road, Weston Way, Willian Way and Mons Avenue.

      The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing gas main is proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
