Cumberland – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

AND A5086 COCKERMOUTH AND BRIERYDALE LANE, STAINBURN)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 24 February 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

  1. A597 Shore Terrace and Mossbay Road, Workington – From 24 February 2025 for approx. 10 days (Ref:TROCC/13512)

    From its junction with Poole Road to a point where it joins Solway Road.

    Alternative Route: via the A597 Solway Road, Church Street, New Bridge Road, A596 Northside Road, Hall Brow, Bridge Street, Washington Street, Guard Street, Cross Hill, High Street, A596 High Harrington Road, A595, A597, Main Road, Church Road, Eller Bank, and Salterback Road.

  2. Gordon Street, Workington – From 10 March 2025 for approx. 4 days (Ref:TROCC/13600)

    From its junction with Oxford Street to its junction with Fisher Street.

    Alternative Routes:

    South Bound Vehicles: via Fisher Street, South Watt Street, and Oxford Street.

    North Bound Vehicles: via Oxford Street, Park Lane, and Fisher Street.

  3. A5086, Gallowbarrow, The Level and Lamplugh Road, Cockermouth – From 10 March 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref:TROCC/13629)

    From the junction with Gallowbarrow and Station Road, extending in a south-westerly direction along Gallowbarrow, The Level and Lamplugh Road for a total distance of approx. 250m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5086, Lamplugh Road, A66, A595, Belle Vue Roundabout, A5086 Gote Brow, Gote Bridge, Crown Street, Sullart Street, and the unrestricted section of Gallowbarrow.

  4. Brierydale Lane, Stainburn – From 17 March 2025 for approx. 1 day (Ref:TROCC/13662)

    From a point approx. 100m southwest of its junction with Uldale Road, extending in a south-westerly direction for approx. 45m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Brierydale Lane, Curwendale, Stainburn Road, Moor Road, Moorlands Drive, and Uldale Road.
