What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN ATTIMORE ROAD, WELWYN GARDEN CITY AND HARMER DELL, WELWYN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

that length of Attimore Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Handside Lane north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Applecroft Road, a distance of approximately 754m.

An alternative route will be via Handside Lane and Applecroft Road.

that length of Harmer Dell, Welwyn from its junction with Harmer Green Lane south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with The Dell, a distance of approximately 87m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE SUBWAY SITUATED BENEATH THE B195 BRIDGE ROAD/WIGMORES NORTH ROUNDABOUT, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all subway users from using the subway situated beneath the B195 Bridge Road/Wigmores North roundabout, Welwyn Garden City from a point 5m north west of a point in line with the western boundary of No.5 Bridge Road south westwards and north westwards for a distance of approximately 80m (“the Subway”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of No.5 Bridge Road, the footway situated on the south side of the B195 Bridge Road/Wigmores North roundabout and the footway situated on the east side of ‘Park House’.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Subway.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Subway.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with London Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Codicote Road, a distance of approximately 217m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via London Road, B197 Welwyn Bypass Road, A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road, B656 Church Street and Church Street

or via Codicote Road, B656 (Link Road/Church Street), A1000 Welwyn Bypass Road, B197 Welwyn Bypass Road and London Road.

ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 March 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHURCH ROAD, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Church Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with the Osborn Way roundabout north westwards for a distance of approximately 50m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Osborn Way, B195 (Bridge Road/The Campus roundabout), Parkway and Church Road

or via Church Road, Parkway, B195 (The Campus roundabout/The Campus) and Osborn Way.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 20 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B156 NORTHAW ROAD EAST, CUFFLEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B156 Northaw Road East, Cuffley from its junction with Theobalds Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 268m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B156 Northaw Road East, B157 (Plough Hill/East Ridgeway/The Ridgeway), Well Road and B156 (Judges Hill/Northaw Road West/Northaw Road East).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN QUICKBEAMS, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Quickbeams, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Rowans south eastwards, south westwards and north eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”).

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN CODICOTE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

That length of Bury Lane, Codicote from its junction with B656 High Street north eastwards to the access road leading to Nos.1-36 ‘The Bury’, a distance of approximately 410m.

An alternative route will be via B656 (High Street/Hitchin Road), Drivers End, Nup End, and Bury Lane.

That length of Heath Lane, Codicote from its junction with B656 High Street south westwards to its junction with Oak Drive, a distance of approximately 390m.

An alternative route will be via B656 High Street, Whitwell Road, The Grove, and Heath Lane.

That length of B656 High Street, Codicote from its junction with Whitwell Road south eastwards to its junction with Heath Lane, a distance of approximately 550m.

Alternative routes:

Route 1: B656 (High Street/Codicote Road/Link Road/Church Street), B197 (Great North Road/Mardley Hill/London Road/Stevenage Road/London Road), A602 (Six Hills Way, A1155 (St Georges Way/Fairlands Way), A602 (Lytton Way/Hitchin Road/Wymondley Bypass/Stevenage Road) and B656 (London Road/Hitchin Road/High Street).

Route 2: B656 (High Street/Hitchin Road/London Road), A602 (Stevenage Road/Wymondley Bypass/Hitchin Road/Lytton Way/James Way/Lytton Way), A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way), A602 Six Hills Way, B197 (London Road/Stevenage Road/London Road/Mardley Hill/Great North Road) and B656 (Church Street/Link Road/Codicote Road/High Street).

Route 3: B656 (High Street/Codicote Road/Link Road/Church Street), A1(M), A602 Stevenage Road and B656 (London Road/Hitchin Road/High Street).

Route 4: B656 (High Street/Hitchin Road/London Road), A602 Stevenage Road, A1(M), A1000 Hertford Road, Hertford Road, Prospect Place, High Street, Codicote Road and B656 (Codicote Road/High Street).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE QUADRANGLE, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Quadrangle, Welwyn Garden City from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.1 The Quadrangle north eastwards to a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.5 The Quadrangle, a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

Inspection of Orders

A copy of the Orders may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank, and public holidays).
