M54 Motorway (Junction 4 to Junction 2) - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

What is happening?

THE M54 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 4 TO JUNCTION 2)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M54 Motorway, in the Counties of Shropshire and Staffordshire, to enable resurfacing work to be carried out.

The effect of the order will be to close, at different times, –

(1)  the eastbound carriageway of the M54 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 4, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 2;

(2)  the westbound carriageway of the M54 from its junction with the exit slip road at Junction 2, to its junction with the entry slip road at Junction 3;

(3)  the slip road leading –

(a)  to the eastbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 4;

(b)  from the eastbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 3;

(c)  to the eastbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 3;

(d)  from the eastbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 2;

(e)  to the westbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 2; and

(f)  from the westbound carriageway of the M54 at Junction 3; and

(4)  any emergency refuge area adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in (1) and (2) above.

The work is expected to start on Thursday 27 February 2025 and continue for approximately eight weeks. The closures will be carried out overnight Monday to Thursday between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours, with full weekend closures between 20:00 hours on Friday until 06:00 hours on Monday. The Order will come into force on 24 February 2025.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance or traffic officer purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.

Diversion routes via the A4640, the A5 and the A449 and vice versa will be signed.
