What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

(LONGHAYES AVENUE, DAGENHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE OF MAKING

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate gas mains replacement works, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham has made a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The order is expected to come into effect on Monday 24 February 2025. The works expected:

    • A road closure, with associated banned manoeuvres, will be in place on Longhayes Avenue between its junctions with Padnall Road and Arneways Avenue. Works to take 43 days to complete. Completion date estimated as Monday 7 April 2025, with the work to be undertaken between 8.00am and 5.00pm.

    • Works will take place in three phases to minimise impact.

      • Phase 1: Closure of Longhayes Avenue between Padnall Road and Sheepcotes Road.

      • Phase 2: Closure of Longhayes Avenue between Sheepcotes Road and Roles Grove.

      • Phase 3: Closure of Longhayes Avenue between Roles Grove and Arneways Avenue.

    • However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  3. When the works are taking place and appropriate traffic signs are being displayed, the Order will temporarily:

    • In Phase 1:

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access) on Longhayes Avenue, both sides, from its junction with Padnall Road to its junction with Sheepcotes Road.

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access) on Sheepcotes Road, both sides, from its junction with Roles Grove to its junction with Longhayes Avenue.

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access) on Longhayes Avenue, both sides, from its junction with Arneways Avenue to its junction with Sheepcotes Road.

      • Introduce a banned right turn from Padnall Road into Longhayes Avenue.

      • Introduce a banned left turn from Padnall Road into Longhayes Avenue.

      • Alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:

        • Via Padnall Road, Rose Lane, Arneways Avenue and Vice Versa

        • Via Padnall Road, Arneways Avenue and Vice Versa

    • In Phase 2:

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Longhayes Avenue, both sides, from its junction with Sheepcotes Road to its junction with Roles Grove.

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access) on Crabtree Avenue, both sides, from its junction with Padnall Road to its junction with Longhayes Avenue.

      • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for Access) on Roles Grove, both sides, from its junction with Roles Grove (easternmost arm leading to Rose Lane) to its junction with Longhayes Avenue.

      • Alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed.

        • Via Arneways Avenue (eastbound carriageway), Rose Lane (southbound carriageway), and Sheepcotes Road (westbound carriageway)

        • Via Arneways Avenue (westbound carriageway) and Padnall Road (southbound carriageway)

        • In Phase 3:

          • Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Longhayes Avenue, both sides, from its junction with Roles Grove to its junction with Arneways Avenue.

          • Introduce a banned right turn from Arneways Avenue into Longhayes Avenue.

          • Introduce a banned left turn from Arneways Avenue into Longhayes Avenue.

          • Alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:

            • Via Padnall Road, Arneways Avenue and Vice Versa
