WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL (PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY HW6

(PART) & PUBLIC FOOTPATH HW44 (PART) – NORTHAMPTON)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists from proceeding along those lengths of Public Bridleway HW6 (Part) and Public Footpath HW44 (Part) in Northampton as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said lengths of bridleway and footpath are unaffected.

RIGHTS OF WAYS TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: The route of footpath HW44 to be closed commences at point A on the map at National Grid Reference (NGR) SP7354 6387. The route proceeds generally west for 320 metres to terminate at point B at NGR SP7322 6387. The route of footpath HW44 to be closed is shown by a solid black line between A-B

The route of bridleway HW6 to be closed commences at point C at NGR SP7339 6373 and proceeds generally northwest for 220 metres to point B at NGR SP7322 6387. The route then continues northwest, then southwest and then northwest for a total of 395 metres to terminate at point D at NGR SP7290 6395. The route of bridleway HW6 to be closed is shown by a solid black line between C-B-D.

REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety due to the construction works on the new Northampton Northwest Relief Road and roundabout.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 21st February 2025 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: The alternative route for footpath HW44 (suitable for pedestrians only) commences at point A on the map at NGR SP7354 6387 and proceeds in a generally south westerly direction for 210 metres to point C at NGR SP7339 6373. The alternative route for footpath HW44 is shown by a broken black line between A-C.

The alternative route for bridleway HW6 (suitable for pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists) commences at point C at NGR SP7339 6373 and proceeds north of west for 542 metres to point E at NGR SP7286 6379. The route then proceeds east of north for 165 metres to terminate at point D at NGR SP7290 6395. The alternative route for bridleway HW6 is shown by a broken black line between C-E-D.
