What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BURY LANE, WITHNELL, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Bury Lane, Withnell from Chorley Road, Withnell to the southern boundary of the property named Sunnyfield.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Thursday 13th February 2025 until 1600 hours on Thursday 24th April 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible due to nature of works involved. Cyclists will be required to either dismount to pass through the site or follow the diversion route.
4. Vehicular and cycle access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular and cycle traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Bury Lane, Withnell – Railway Road, Withnell – Railway Road, Brinscall – School Lane, Brinscall – Buckholes Lane, Wheelton – Jenny Lane, Higher Wheelton – Blackburn Road, Higher Wheelton – Chorley Road, Withnell and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out by Cadent Gas.
