A303 Trunk Road - 40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit Order
What is happening?
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1)(B) A303 Trunk Road (Sparkford) (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A303 trunk road, near Sparkford in Somerset, because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to a new road layout.
The restrictions are expected to be in place from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 4 March 2025.
The effect of the Order is to impose a mandatory 40 miles per hour speed limit on:
(a) the A303 eastbound exit slip road at Hazlegrove Junction from 24 metres west of Camel Hill Roundabout to Camel Hill Roundabout;
(b) Camel Hill Roundabout;
(c) the link road between Camel Hill Roundabout and Hazlegrove Roundabout;
(d) Vale Lane eastbound and westbound between 335 metres west of Camel Hill Roundabout and Camel Hill Roundabout;
(e) the A303 eastbound entry slip road at Hazlegrove Junction from its diverge from the link road between Camel Hill Roundabout and Hazlegrove Roundabout to 102 metres west of Hazlegrove Junction;
(f) Hazlegrove Roundabout;
(g) the A303 westbound entry slip road from Hazlegrove Roundabout to 129 metres west of Hazlegrove Roundabout;
(h) the A303 westbound exit slip road from 140 metres east of Hazlegrove Roundabout to Hazlegrove Roundabout;
(i) the Ridge Copse link road eastbound and westbound between 890 metres west of Hazlegrove Roundabout and Hazlegrove Roundabout;
(j) the A359 northbound and southbound between Hazlegrove Roundabout and 18 metres south of Hazlegrove Roundabout
The restrictions would not apply to emergency service or special forces vehicles.
The speed limits will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the period of danger.
The Order would come into force on 2 March 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
