Walney, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Highway Improvement Works

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (DERWENT BANK, SEVERN ROAD AND WEST SHORE ROAD, WALNEY, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway improvement works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order

the effect of which is to;

i. Prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the following sections of road at Walney, Barrow-in-Furness;

(a) Derwent Bank from its junction with West Shore Road, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 20m.

Alternative Route: via West Shore Road, Severn Road and the unrestricted section of Derwent Bank.

Duration: From 3rd March 2025 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROW/13338)

(b) Severn Road from its junction with West Shore Road, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 25m.

Alternative Route: via West Shore Road, Derwent Bank and the unrestricted section of Severn Road.

Duration: From i8th March 2025 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROW/13339)

2. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along that section of West Shore Road, Walney, Barrow-in-Furness (northern side) from a point 25m south easterly of its junction with Derwent Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 75 metres.

The Order will come into operation on 3rd March 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
