What is happening?

WAKEFIELD COUNCIL

(SPEED LIMIT) (NO.2) ORDER 2025

HORSEFAIR AND SURROUNDING

STREETS, PONTEFRACT

The Council of the City of Wakefield proposes to make the above order under its powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which, in relation to Horsefair and surrounding roads, Pontefract will be to:-

Introduce a 20mph speed restriction on the following roads:-

Access Road to Horsefair Flats/Access Road serving Warren House/Access Road serving

Francis Lane House/Access Road serving Silkstone House/Anderson Street/Back

Northgate(between Stuart Road and Finkle

Street)/Baxtergate/ Beastfair/Bridge Street/Broad Lane/Castle Chain/Church Lane/Colonel’s Walk/

Cornmarket/Cross Street/Crown and Anchor

Yard/Finkle Street/Gillygate/Horsefair/Liquorice

Way/Market Place/Micklegate Square/Micklegate

/Ratten Row/Road linking Church Lane and

Salter Row/Ropergate/Salter Row/Sessions

House Yard/Service Road rear of Vaults PH/ Service Road linking Salter Row and Stuart Road via KC2 House/Service Road linking Salter Row and Stuart Road/Shoe Market/Spink Lane/Stuart Road/Swales Yard/The Walkway/Valley Road/ Watergate/Woolmarket.

It does include copies of plans showing the proposed changes to the roads as well as a Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order.
