 (CLEVELAND WAY NT – OVER DALE, SANDSEND)

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parish of Lythe in the county of North Yorkshire:

Public Footpath 1 Lythe: (A-B-C)

No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 8499 1454 (Point A – junction with FP16 Lythe), heading in a generally easterly and then south-easterly direction along the cliff-top for 611 metres to the flight of steps to be replaced at Grid Reference NZ 8535 1419 (Point B) and then continuing in a generally south-easterly and then southerly direction along the cliff-top for a further 1,210 metres to Grid Reference NZ 8586 1329 (Point C). A total distance of 1,821 metres. Alternative Route: (C-D-E-F-G-A)

Permissive Path marked as C-D:

Commencing at Grid Reference NZ 8586 1329 (Point C), pedestrians should proceed in a generally westerly direction for 150 metres through the woods to Grid Reference NZ 8574 1332 (Point D).

Public Footpath 18 Lythe: (D-E)

From Grid Reference NZ 8574 1332 (Point D), pedestrians should proceed in a generally northerly and then north-westerly direction around the edge of the woods for 780 metres to the junction with FP17 Lythe at Grid Reference NZ 8542 1379 (Point E).

Public Footpath 17 Lythe: (E-F)

From the junction with FP18 Lythe at Grid Reference NZ 8542 1379 (Point E), pedestrians should proceed in a generally westerly direction for 150 metres to Over Dale Farm at  Grid Reference NZ 8526 1374 (Point F).

Public Bridleway 16 Lythe: (F-G-A)

From the junction with FP17 Lythe at Grid Reference NZ 8526 1374 (Point F) at Over Dale Farm, pedestrians should proceed in a generally northerly direction for 705 metres over fields, across Over Dale Beck and onto the junction with FP11 Lythe at Grid Reference NZ 8504 1437 (Point G). Pedestrians should then continue in a generally northerly direction for 175 metres to the cliff top and junction with FP1 Lythe at Grid Reference NZ 8499 1454. A total distance of 1,960 metres.

The Order is necessary due to allow for repair works to be undertaken on the steps at Grid Reference NZ 8535 1419  (Point B).The closure takes will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
